Great tour! Highly recommended!
I should have listened to the earlier review saying the tour guide was late. We had a similar (but worse) experience where the tour guide blatantly didn't show up on time. (We were waiting, calling Viator, calling the local tour company). We kept being told the tour guide was there holding a sign but there was no one. Anyways the tour guide showed up later and started accosting us about not being at the right place (we were very clearly in the right place, we clicked through the google link sent by them, verified with the guards at the entrance). No one from the company communicated with us other than send a google link which led us to exactly where we were. I even asked the front guards if this is the only entrance to Palazzo De Medici and he said yes and that we are not allowed in beyond this point. So there was no where else for us to be. She kept ranting and I very clearly pointed to all the ways we verified we were in the right place. Then her story changed and she said she had seen me at the entrance when she went to use the bathroom. I asked why she didn't have a sign like they had said so I would know it was her, she reverted back to the "well you're not in the right place so I didn't have to hold up my sign." Then she went on about what a terrible day she has had because she had to go back and forth to look for us and how, of course, we caused this. Anyways it escalated to a point where I felt so gaslighted I was almost in tears. Needless to say, we did not attempt the tour. If she would have simply showed up late and said sorry I was running late, let's get started, it would be a little annoying but fine. For a tour guide to show up so late and then accuse you of causing her trouble... I feel like I was in the twilight zone. I requested a refund via Viator and was told the company denied me a refund. To deny a refund when services was not rendered (tour was not given) and the tour guide was bother unprofessional (rude) and negligent (late) is illogical to me. To put it in perspective, I've taken many Viator tours over the years and have never written one bad review. I feel like people should know what happened.
Dear Mrs Jing Rong Zhong, thank you for your review, even if it appears as confused as you were on the phone with me on Easter day at 2 past 2 pm. The tour should start at 2 pm. 2 minutes after the starting time we got your phone call in our office. A lady shouted and let us not understand which tour she was referring to. After we could understand the datas of the tour, we told the lady she was at the rear side of the Medici Palace, while tour guide Sandra had been waiting at the right meeting point VIA CAVOUR 1 FLORENCE, IN FRONT OF THE MEDICI PALACE since 1:45 (15 minutes before the tour started). We always start this tour from the front of the palace in order to explain the magnificient Renaissance facade. The lady kept on shouting and saying she was at the right place, so I told guide Sandra to go to the rear side of the palace and she met the customers. The lady attacked the tour guide and wanted her to apologize because in her mind she was late. It was 10 past 2 then and Sandra encouraged the customers with a smile, saying that there was no problem, they would have finished 10 minutes later. All in all we are used to clients who do not read instructions and meeting points with accurancy and we are very comprehensive with this, as our customers are on vacation and not in their home town. So Sandra apologized for something she was not responsible for. At this point the customers (who were 3 and had bought a tour for 2, but I had already told Sandra to run the tour without asking any price supplement, as the lady was badly nervous and everybody in the street was looking at her shouting) decided not to make the tour. Sandra was shocked by this violent behaviour and called our office in tears. Of course we paid Sandra for her service, of course we had already bought all museum tickets (on Easter Sunday Florence was very crowded) of course we denied the refund request for this unbelieveble decision. After Mrs Jing Rong Zhong refund request was denied on Viator, she started to write emails to us, trying to threaten us with a bad review if we hadn’t refunded her. We gently replied she had the right to write her point of view and that we would have replied with the true one. This is the bad story with Mrs Jing Rong Zhong. NOTES: 1) We never sent you a link, as our office phone has not this function, so it is one of the many lies you wrote in the review 2) If you ask the guardians at the entrance of the palace if this is the entrance, of course they reply it is, but this is not the right meeting point written on your Viator voucher 3) 20 minutes before the tour started guide Sandra had gone on the rear side of the palace in order to use the museum toilet and had seen three persons who looked coming from Eastern Countries. She asked them if they were Jing Rong Zhong and she was told with arrogance that they were waiting for their tour guide and did not need her. Without listening to her, without answering her question about their name, they did not care of her, like she were an annoying vendor on the road and kept on talking on their own:))
I really liked the palazzo medici.
Great experience! The tour was impeccably organized, with well-managed timing and clear and engaging explanations. The guide was prepared, nice and always available to answer our questions. We discovered wonderful places and curiosities that we would never have noticed on our own. I absolutely recommend this tour to those who want to live a complete and stress-free experience.
Rossana was amazing and so informative, you can tell she loves what she does. I would highly recommend her for this tour!
