Cuando conduzcamos hacia el centro de la ciudad, caminaremos hasta nuestra segunda parada del día. Este es el `` Castillo de Kyrenia ''. El castillo fue construido por los bizantinos y muchas adiciones fueron hechas por lusignanos, venecianos, otomanos e ingleses. Dentro del castillo hay un museo de los naufragios en el que se exponen las ánforas, las almendras, las semillas y el naufragio. El naufragio se remonta al año 300 a. C.
Fue construido como puerto durante el período veneciano. Una torre de cadenas data del mismo período. El puerto fue construido en forma de 'U'. La Aduana fue construida durante la época colonial. Hoy en día, el puerto se utiliza como puerto deportivo para los recorridos diarios en barco. También hay muchos cafés que uno puede disfrutar para beber alcohol o refrescos.
Se trata de un cementerio militar que se remonta al período otomano del siglo XVI. Se cree que el moseleaum del centro pertenece a uno de los comandantes de la guarnición otomana.
La ciudad estaba rodeada de murallas durante el período de Lusignan. Esta torre es la que queda de esos años.
El antiguo mercado municipal fue construido por los británicos en 1887 como ayuntamiento. Posteriormente el mercado del municipio fue el centro de frutas y hortalizas frescas hasta hace poco tiempo. El 'Bandabuliya' fue restaurado más tarde y ha sido un bazar tradicional para café, oficina y lugar para eventos.
El monasterio fue construido por Lusignans. Es uno de los monasterios más bonitos que se construyó en el período medieval en Oriente Medio. Tiene una estructura gótica. Estuvo en uso hasta 16AD.

The whole trip to Kyrenia was an incredible experience! Our tour guide, Sirin, was very kind, competent, and truly passionate. We learned so much from her about Cyprus's history, which made the sightseeing even more special. The organization was perfect and stress-free. Sirin picked us up in Nicosia, crossed the border with us, and drove us around to show us the most beautiful spots in Kyrenia by car. After the tour, she dropped us back in Nicosia safely. If you are looking for the best trip in Cyprus with a comfortable, private atmosphere, you will definitely have it with her. Highly recommended! :)

Kyrenia castle in the old marina is a must to see. The shipwreck museum in the castle dates back to 300 BC - the oldest in the world. Bellapais Monastery was our second stop of the day. Located on the Kyrenia Mountain. Typical gothic style architecture. I did this tour with Sirin. She was flexible with the start time and I enjoyed the local coffee when we enjoyed outside the monastery. If you are looking for a half day tour I highly recommend this one.

Kyrenia was simply beautiful, and what made it even more special was how naturally Şirin shared her love for the place. She has this wonderful way of weaving stories into every stop, without ever overwhelming you. It felt like walking through the past with someone who not only knows the history, but genuinely enjoys sharing it. The atmosphere at the harbor, the view from Bellapais Abbey, the castle. Everything was elevated by her presence and attention to detail.
It was a great day with your friend. We'll have to head out again to a different destination on your next visit to Cyprus.
Anyone visiting Cyprus is bound to tour Girne Castle and the Bellapais Monastery. We were very pleased with this trip. Recommended for everyone.
