Despite having initial misunderstanding about the meeting time, I can rate the whole experience as excellent. Azry was extremely helpful and happy to share his knowledge about flora, fauna and geography of the impressive Geoforest Park
Thank you so much for the honest review an excellent truly Malaysian Hospitality,See you soon!
Interesting place and activity. Huge number of people doing it. It was not private, as we paid for. There were horses of tourists at the bat cave, boats zipping back and forth at high speed past our kayaks, creating lots of wake. Lunch was mediocre - fried rice with frozen vegetables. Our friends went on a different version of this and had a nice fish lunch.
We apologise about the the people on that day is busy due to weekend and we had a cruise ship. There is a point where open space where we have to cross the channel so in these area plenty of speed boat going through. About the frozen vegetables where we are not aware of we truly apologise and for the nice fish that will come out from your pocket the lunch provided just a simple meal such as fried rice with chicken & soup.
Excellent guide, very helpful and knowledgeable about the forest. Even offered a free ride to the Sky Bridge! Good instructions about how to kayak in the forest and takes lots of action photos and videos during the trip! We even had a private beach for a refreshing swim.
Thanks Kyo for a wonderful reviews! Cheers and truly a wonderful time with you !
We had an amazing day with Azri visiting the fish farm, enjoyed lunch at a floating restaurant, we watched the eagles being fed, swam on a secluded beach and kayaked through the mangroves. The trip was well organised and we received great communication regarding pick up times. He taught us a lot about Langkawi and the wildlife in the mangroves. Azri made our experience fun and was very chatty and friendly. He also took a lot of photos and videos to share with us which meant we had time to focus on the experience. I would highly recommend booking this trip with Azri.
Thank you so much for an honest review its a blessing it was a wonderful day with both of you sincerely
If you're considering booking the Kayak tour with Azri, I advice you to book directly with Fauna Flora or other tour operator that charges less (usually around RM250 incl. hotel pick up), as Azri is just an agent and you will end up doing the tour with those operators but paying Azri an incentive fee. Really sad I am writing this 1* review, as, like other people have said on this page, Azri is a really friendly guy and he's been super responsive since we first got into contact. However, I am extremely upset about my experience. I was lied to by Azri and to a certain level, I feel like I was scammed. So, here goes: When I first contacted Azri about the Kilim Mangrove Geoforest tour 2 weeks prior to my trip, I asked him maximum how many people there would be on the tour. His reply was "small group or private tour" for RM300 per person (see attached photo 1). I had also checked the prices from other tour operators (Fauna Flora etc.) and they told me there would be maximum X no. of people (some tours up to 15 people) for RM200 - 250 per person. Since I wanted a private tour/small group, I thought I would go with Azri even though it costed more. On the day of the tour, I was picked up by a driver from my hotel. There were other guests in the car. When we got to the jetty, the driver pointed at a local guy and told me that was my guide for the day. It was NOT Azri. I called Azri and asked whether he was going to be there, and he said "No, I won't be there. You guide is my friend Sham. He's good". Then, when Sham did the briefing before we set off, I realised there were 20+ people in the group. 20+ people is, by no definition, a "small group" like Azri had initially told me. In addition, I was NEVER TOLD by Azri I would be going with another tour operator (which was Fauna Flora, funny enough). I messaged Azri immediately and told him that was not what I was told (see attached photo 2) and he completely ignored me. I spoke to other guests on the tour and some told me they paid RM240 for one person. A couple told me they booked on Viator and paid RM350 per person with tour guide "Aziz", who is also Azri. They also thought they were getting a private tour. If I had known I would be going with Fauna Flora in the end, I would have never paid the extra amount to Azri, I would have just booked directly with them.
First of all it is not a private tour. Where if you look at the title. Where the price was discounted due to absence please do not compare the prices as the booking is not via viator or tripadvisor. However there is no scamming people here! Please take note there is 70 people giving a wonderful and great reviews!
Had a great time in Kilim Geopark, Azri was a excellent and knowledgable host. The kayak tour was just the right level of effort and we were able to see the eagles and a number of other animals.
thank you Matt it was truly awesome time with both of you hope you had a wonderful time here!
Azir Aziz and the mangrove tour group were amazing! Kayaking through the Kilim GeoForest was something akin to paradise. We were so fortunate that Azir was able to show us a new route that took us to the Eagle feeding spot, through the Mangroves to see colourful crabs, and past the curious macaque monkeys (we even saw a sleeping viper), as well as a cave. It was a beautiful day out, and it is 100% worth doing! We would totally recommend Azir, as he goes above and beyond for your group. Azir made us feel so welcome and well looked after. He is a very experienced guide with excellent facts and knowledge of the area. To top it off he ensured that we got to spend some time at a stunning beach and then got home safely; thank you Nadia. A day to remember!
Wow! thank you so much for the excellent review! hope to see you again someday for another adventures
Azri is a very informative and knowledgeable guide. He took us into the mangroves, which was fun and educational. We met some great people from interesting backgrounds. The kayaking is fun but be prepared to put some effort in, to gain your best experience. I left some belongings behind and he got them back to me, with no issues. A challenging but rewarding experience and I would highly recommend this mangrove trip
Thank you Sinead and John it was a pleasure to have both of you on board! hope to see you again someday for another adventures here!
AZRI AZIZ was a fantastic tour guide and he seems to be the type of person that makes sure everyone has a great time. His itinerary is packed with adventure and we were delighted to discover things that weren't on the list as well. He's also a great photographer, Thanks!
Thank you so much joe was a pleasure to have both of you on the tour! hope to see you again for another adventure here in #langkawi
Long story short we wasted over two hours waiting around for our tour guide before leaving the Geoforest (aka national park) and going back to our hotel due to lack of communication and making us wait around for his lack of planning. At best its bad communication to the customer at worst this is just a scam. Refused to return our money so this was a complete waste. Long version We chose the 8 am hotel pick up. We were ready at 8 am and got a WhatsApp message at 8 that the driver would pick us up at 8:30 but we had to front the cash for the driver and he would pay us back. We didn't have the cash for that so then it became he would try to get us a Grab (Uber). Grab got us at 8:40 and brought us to the Geoforest by 9 am. Driver then informed us that Azri would meet us in the food court of the Geoforest by 9:30 am. By 10 am we searched around and tether to someone for Wi-Fi, had no messages from Azri so we called a Grab and headed by to our hotel around 10:15 am. I informed him we would no longer be waiting and we were leaving. THEN he started messaging us that he was waiting on the pier (not the food court where we were told to meet) and that since the tide was still low there was plenty of time to turn back and meet him still. So if the tide was low and we seemingly weren't going to be going out in the morning why make us be ready by 8 am? It seemed he knew we weren't going out in the morning and took his time to get there but left us in the dark to wait until he decided to show up. Refused to refund us and blamed us that we abandoned the group. I don't feel that waiting around for 2 hours for your tour guide to show up is abandoning but he does. So let that be a warning. There are plenty of other tours to take in the Geoforest that we would have chosen had we done this over.
we apologise for the inconvenience, however for this particular case if you decide to cancel last minute then you request for full refund?
