Un templo zen tranquilo y sereno rodeado de bosque, el templo Jochiji fue construido en 1281 por Hojo Tokoyori, un líder del shogunato Kamakura, para honrar a su hijo que había muerto joven. Es agradable pasear por los terrenos de este templo, disfrutando de los exuberantes macizos de flores y los bosques de bambú. Recuerda frotar el vientre de la estatua de Hotei, ya que se dice que te trae buena fortuna.

A continuación, caminará por el curso de senderismo Daibutsu a través de las montañas hasta llegar a un misterioso agujero en la ladera, enmarcado por una puerta torii. Atraviesa ese agujero y encontrarás el Santuario Zeniarai Benzaiten Ugafuku. Construido en 1185, el santuario emite un fuerte aroma a incienso y está lleno de una rara mezcla de monumentos sintoístas y budistas. Explore hasta encontrar una pequeña cueva con un manantial natural burbujeante en su interior. Aquí, las personas lavan su dinero en el agua del manantial, ya que se dice que el dinero lavado en primavera se duplicará en el verano.
Según la leyenda, el primer Shogun de Kamakura Minamoto Yoritomo fue visitado en su sueño por un zorro blanco (conocido como Inari) que le aconsejó cómo ganar una batalla contra sus enemigos. Al salir victorioso de la batalla, Minamoto construyó el Santuario Sasuke Inari en agradecimiento. Ubicado en las montañas rodeadas por un denso bosque verde, allí puedes encontrar un túnel compuesto por más de 100 puertas torii rojas, al igual que Fushimi Inari Taisha en Kyoto. El santuario también contiene cientos de mini zorros inari blancos y el sitio de un antiguo "pueblo escondido".
El gran Buda Kamakura mide 13,35 m de altura y pesa alrededor de 121 toneladas. La construcción de la estatua de bronce de Buda tal como aparece hoy data de 1252. Es una de las estatuas de Buda más grandes de Japón y definitivamente vale la pena verla. Incluso puedes entrar dentro de la gran estatua.
El Templo Hasedera se encuentra a medio camino del Monte Kamakura. El templo, por lo tanto, tiene excelentes vistas al sur sobre el océano y la pintoresca playa de Yuigahama. My partner and I had a fantastic tour through Kamakura with Terry. He was knowledgeable and very sociable. The tour was comprehensive but affordable with a relaxed atmosphere. It was simply very fun and informative. I think this tour is best for small groups of 2-5
