An unforgettable experience! Amazing!

Our four today was out to Gunlom Falls Our guide Glenn was superb! Very knowledgeable and engaging and clearly loved what he does. The weather was perfect and the climb up was absolutely worth every single step!! The rock pools were beautiful and clear and we really enjoyed swimming. The views from the top were breathtaking. We enjoyed individually packed lunches! Delicious!! Wrap / Muesli Bar / Apple juice / orange / apple and cheese with crackers Coffee / Tea / Water was also provided. Our drive to and from was enjoyable listening to Glenn tell the stories and educating us on the land and people and history. A wonderful day was had!

Waste of time

Don’t bother unless you enjoy sitting in a carpark consuming refreshments. We endured over 7 hours sealed highway touring with 5 minutes, 1.4km, off-road. Stopped at 1 lookout and waterhole, and 2.5 hours stopped for average refreshments.

Underwhelming, expensive and long highway drive. No passion for the indigenous culture or environment by the guide.

Long drive on the main highway to visit 2 swimming holes with very little information or interaction with the guide. We drove for nearly 2 hours in the 4WD vehicle on the highway and for about 20 minutes on a 4WD road. Walked about 1km and climbed to a trickling waterfall and very small shallow waterhole where we spend 45 minutes sitting around. Then drove to the ranger station for lunch, which was very nice and plentiful ( no water in the flushing toilets ) Then drove to another water fall which was off road and actually had some water flowing and was swimmable, then drove for over 100km back. Over all a very underwhelming experience for a high price. All 5 passengers were geared up for some hikes or bushwalks. We went on the Yellow waters cruise the night before and that was fabulous and we were expecting a similar knowledgable engaging experience for the guide but were disappointed with this tour. The assistant was friendly and on her first trip. The bus needed maintenance on several seats that could not be brought into the upright position or seat belts didn't work

Poorly organised

Booked in for a Gunlom Falls tour but due to the massive floods earlier in the year the tour had to be re-routed. Before I continue my review I will say that any tour you go on especially when it relies on mother nature you can have issues. We turned up at the requested time but we didn’t end up leaving till 30 minutes after that. We were given two options to where the tour could go due to the falls being unable to visit - a crazy thing to do as it leaves it to the people on the tour to decide. Silly because what if some poet want to do one thing and others want to do the opposite? We left to do some ‘Scenic’ options but was bitterly disappointed. First location was a fairly dry riverbed. Our guide was knowledgeable however bordering on being a bit too controversial in his views and opinions on certain subjects. We then visited a few more locations and had a stop to eat scones but that dragged on for far too long. Was left just standing around waiting and waiting till we could board the truck to see more. The tour was scheduled to be back at Cooinda Lodge at 1pm however it wasn’t till 2.30’ish till we arrived. Thankfully we didn’t have a tour planned for the afternoon but if we did we certainly would’ve been annoyed. We were still annoyed as we did want to see some things but were limited. I get it that Mother Nature can change plans but have a proper plan in place, stick to a schedule and plan things better.

Definitely worthwhile

Highly recommended. The whole six hours was fascinating. We experienced everything from a lookout across the vast country to swimming in a secluded water hole filled by a spring-fed waterfall to walking a sandy riverbed. Our guide Glenn and his assistant Zoe were very informative and friendly, and obviously have a deep empathy and connection to Kakadu and its indigenous heritage. The variety of vegetation that we passed during the drive from stop to stop was clearly described and explained by Glenn as was the history and prehistory of Kakadu and its indigenous population. The four-wheel-drive bus was comfortable (air-conditioning) and the scones with jam and cream were delicious!

Great experience!

We had a fantastic day out on the Kakadu Adventure Tour! Glen was a great guide, he was like an old friend who had lived in Kakadu many years and was full of interesting information about the history and the area and the indigenous people and their culture. The visits to the swimming holes were beautiful and refreshing in the heat- since we didn’t have a 4 wheel drive it was the only way to get there. We learnt a lot about Kakadu listening to Glen talking about the country he is obviously very passionate about. Beautiful buffet lunch to finish the day. Be prepared for some bumpy driving and walking over rocks and you will have a great day trip!

Not very adventurous Adventure Tour

Our tour guide Jessica was wonderful but didn’t really think we saw much of the park with only two stops. May have been our error, but assumed we would see more of the sites in the park.

Hi Ellie, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback. We are so happy you enjoyed your time with Jess. We completely understand how it might feel like you missed out on seeing more of the park with only two stops. Our goal is to provide a deeper, more immersive experience at select locations rather than a quick, surface-level overview, which is why our itineraries are curated this way. We apologise if the number of stops wasn't what you anticipated and we will take on your feedback for future planning of this experience. We hope to welcome you back for another adventure in Kakadu soon!

Storno der tour

We have already booked this tour in February 2025 for May 11. With this organizer will be charged immediately and there is no possibility of cancellation. Now this tour was cancelled due to too many crocos in the np, by the organizer. The money was charged back but 50 € less, because it was charged over dollars, and which is now worth less. Get away from this organizer and tours that are immediately payable. We feel so betrayed. Pay for nothing.

Respuesta del operador

Thank you for your review. It appears this feedback was intended for a different operator, as we do not cancel tours due to the presence of crocodiles. In fact, observing crocodiles in their natural habitat is one of the highlights of our experience. Kind regards The Yellow Water Cruise Team
