Tada; Tabikago went above and beyond with his staff- Kozo and the Kagoshima port staff. Let me reassure you first- the other reviews that say anything negative are absolutely wrong. This experience and company are more than incredible. Tada catered and cared for his customers keeping them reassured through email and WhatsApp about the experience. So what was our experience- we booked as a family of four- a collection from the port and also drop off to the port inside cruise timings. Our first stop off would be the sandbath- which you pay for separately from the booking with Tabikago- the car was gorgeous. It’s not just a car- it’s air conditioned, you’re paying for privacy and comfort- you’re paying for the beauty of silence whilst you take in a beautiful coastal view planned by the driver and Tada- the owner. The hour drive was so comfortable and amazing to look at the views. We reached the sandbath- early as it opened. Tada took in to account queue times of other bookings and said- this is the best choice- he and the driver were right. At each stop- you were dropped literally at the entrance of each place- the sandbath entrance- kozo was kind and always asked if we wanted a memorable photo- which we always said yes. Kozo doesn’t speak English but his kindness and smiling face was all you need. Sandbath was then paid for separately but Kozo waits outside and looks out for you. Meanwhile Tada is messaging you advice and pointers of what you could do. So have your phone nearby to see Tada’s updated texts. After the sandbath- Kozo the driver was there to smile and take us to our next location- he opened the door for us when we were near the car. So attentive! We then drove to a location- where Kozo did all the same attentive methods- and took us briefly for a photo opportunity to Nishi-Oyama Station a famous southernmost railway station on mainland Japan. It is also a popular photo spot for views of Mt. Kaimondake, the beautiful mountain often called “Satsuma Fuji” because of its resemblance to Mt. Fuji. Thereafter we went for lunch- paid for separately by us- not in the price for the Tada. The lunch recommendation at yakiniku nabeshima ibusuki was excellent and again- Kozo was attentive- parking right out of the front of the restaurant. Thereafter we stopped at lake ikeda for a photo opportunity- then drove back to the port for around 1.30pm- which was perfect. Tada then was there with his port staff smiling and took American Express for us to pay. You can also pay cash. The price was fair and not even close to some of the cruise excursions. The views and car experience you get is worth the money! I can not recommend this tour enough. Thank you Tabikago- we loved Kagoshima and we can not wait to book again with you!
Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a detailed and wonderful review of your Kagoshima private shore excursion with TABIKAGO. It was truly a pleasure to welcome your family to Kagoshima when your cruise ship called at Marine Port Kagoshima and to help you make the most of your time here. We are especially happy to hear that you enjoyed not only the destinations themselves, but also the comfort, privacy, and flexibility of traveling by private car. From the beginning, our priority was to arrange the day carefully around your cruise schedule while giving your family enough time to enjoy each experience without feeling rushed. Starting early allowed you to arrive at Saraku Natural Sand Bath in Ibusuki when it opened and enjoy this unique Kagoshima experience before it became busier. We were also delighted that the schedule gave us the opportunity to include memorable photo stops at Nishi-Oyama Station, with views of Mt. Kaimondake, known locally as “Satsuma Fuji,” and at Lake Ikeda. We are also very glad that you enjoyed your Japanese-style yakiniku lunch and had the opportunity to taste Kagoshima Black Beef during your visit. Thank you especially for your kind words about Kozo. Although he does not speak English, he takes great pride in providing safe, professional, and attentive service. I know he will be very happy to hear that his kindness, smile, assistance with photos, and care throughout the journey helped make your day special. As you mentioned, I remained available by WhatsApp throughout the day while Kozo took care of your transportation. We are delighted that this combination of a professional private driver and personal support from TABIKAGO helped you feel comfortable and reassured throughout your shore excursion. Most importantly, we are very happy that you returned to Marine Port Kagoshima with plenty of time before your ship’s departure and that your family took home so many wonderful memories of Kagoshima. Your generous recommendation and your words that the experience was worth the price mean a great deal to us. Thank you again for choosing TABIKAGO for your private shore excursion and for trusting us with your family’s day in Kagoshima. We would be absolutely delighted to welcome you back to Kagoshima someday. Until then, we hope the photographs and memories from your day in Kagoshima will bring back many happy memories for years to come. Warmest regards, TABIKAGO
Excellent trip that we had today with it being better than anticipated with the owner Toda meeting us at the port right on time with the added extra of our daughter being given a lovely bit of origami to make her feel special too. We were sent of in a lovely car with our driver Kozo who was smartly presented and very welcoming even though he didn’t speak English was easy to communicate with from the word go. Taken to our first destination as planned and fully enjoyed always being pointed in the right direction by Kozo. We then went to a bonus location to take some photos with Kozo even coming out of the car to take some photos for us. We then went for lunch and Kozo set us up before waiting for us in the car. Then with assistance from Toda speaking to Kozo on the phone we were then taken to lake ikeda for some photos with Kozo again assisting being always pleasant, polite and happy to look after us as much as possible possible. After this we headed back to the port and were met by Toda on arrival. I will never forget him and his wife waving to us as we got back onto the ship. Such a personal experience and such a lovely day. I would highly recommend to anyone visiting.
Thank you very much for taking the time to share such a warm and thoughtful review of your family’s day in Kagoshima. I am especially happy to hear that the personal touches at Marine Port Kagoshima became part of your memories of the day. I would love to share a little story about the origami crane that was given to your daughter and the lady who stood beside me waving goodbye as your family returned to the ship. Her name is Hamako. For more than a decade, Hamako has been welcoming cruise ships to Kagoshima and waving goodbye to passengers as they depart. Over the years, alongside welcoming arriving cruise ships and seeing them off, she has also hand-made countless origami cranes to give to passengers and crew members, building warm and friendly connections with visitors from around the world. The origami crane your daughter received was one of those handmade by Hamako herself as a small gift of welcome from Kagoshima. Over more than a decade, she has now welcomed and seen off passengers on more than 850 cruise ship calls to Kagoshima. For this count, welcoming and seeing off the same ship on the same day is counted as one occasion. At this pace, we expect her remarkable total of cruise ship welcomes and farewells to pass 1,000 next year. Among those involved with cruise ships in Kagoshima, there is hardly anyone who does not know Hamako. She is affectionately known as “Okāsan,” meaning “Mother,” because of the warmth and dedication she has shown to cruise visitors over so many years. And yes, the lady you remember standing beside me and waving as you returned to your ship was Hamako. It means a great deal to us that this simple farewell stayed in your memory. For us, welcoming cruise guests to Kagoshima is not only about transportation or visiting sightseeing spots. We hope that the personal encounters along the way can also become part of what you remember about Kagoshima. I will be very happy to tell Hamako that the origami crane she made for your daughter and the farewell she gave your family became such a memorable part of your visit. Thank you again for choosing TABIKAGO and for sharing your experience so generously. We are truly delighted that your day in Kagoshima exceeded your expectations and became such a special family memory. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back to Kagoshima again someday. Warmest regards, TABIKAGO
We saw the essentials on the tour. The guide very cultured and dear. Everything was perfect. The bus perfect. Everyone kind.
An absolutely incredible experience from start to finish with our tour guide Tada, translator Toshi, and our wonderful driver. From the very first communication and booking process through the end of the tour and even the thoughtful follow-up thank you email afterward with pictures—everything was seamless, organized, and exceptionally well planned. Tada and Toshi were incredibly kind, warm, welcoming, and attentive to every detail. I was traveling with my parents in their seventies and my two children, ages 8 and 5, and they made sure every single person felt comfortable, cared for, and included throughout the entire day. Their patience, genuine care, and thoughtful planning made the experience truly special for our whole family. Our Kagoshima tour was unforgettable. We began with the sand bath experience, which was wonderful and very comfortable with private changing rooms and shower facilities. Afterwards, we enjoyed a fantastic soba noodle-making class at a lovely restaurant. Making the noodles together, watching them be prepared, and then sharing a delicious lunch was such a memorable experience that everyone enjoyed. We ended the day with a peaceful stroll through the Samurai gardens, enjoying the beautiful surroundings and traditional green tea. Throughout the entire tour, Tada and Toshi shared so much knowledge and insight, making each place we visited even more meaningful. The handouts he thoughtfully prepared for us were such a special touch and helped us follow along with the day’s plans while keeping wonderful memories of our experience. I truly cannot recommend this tour enough. The attention to detail, communication, kindness, and hospitality shown by Tada, Toshi, and our driver went above and beyond. We are so grateful for the incredible memories they helped create for our family, and we would absolutely love to return to Kagoshima again on our next family vacation.

We hope to welcome you back to Kagoshima in the future.
We booked this tour and paid $1500AU and then was also expected to pay for ferry costs and lunch for the tour guide. We came back almost 2 hours early because the tour guide could not speak English (which is what we paid for ) and it was extremely frustrating and disappointing visiting places and not knowing the history. We should have done the tour independently and it would have been far better NEVER AGAIN
We had an amazing time. I would highly recommend booking with them. It was a wonderful tour and teaching was paid to every detail.

We loved our day with Cozy! She was so great about teaching us about Kagoshima and keeping our kids entertained throughout the day. We were lucky enough to do the ibusuki sand baths, udon noodle making, with an extra stop for ice cream, and then finished at the beautiful Sengan-en. We were picked up from the airport and dropped off at our hotel, making arrangement so easy. They even waited for us to buy snacks after our flight.
