Este recorrido a pie especial nos lleva a los pasos de John Wesley. Muy lejos de las habituales multitudes y puntos de interés turístico de Londres, caminaremos por algunas de las partes más históricas del Londres romano, medieval, georgiano y victoriano. En el camino visitaremos la casa de John Wesley y la capilla contigua, además de visitar otros sitios históricos en un recorrido de 3 horas que incluye lugares donde Wesley predicaría al aire libre, donde fue a la escuela y el lugar de su conversión en La casa de John Bray. El tour también visita una serie de hermosas iglesias antiguas, parques y ruinas, así como otros lugares de importancia religiosa. Visitaremos la capilla y la tumba de John Wesley antes de dirigirnos a la casa de John Wesley.
John y Charles Wesley, George Whitefield y otros predicaron aquí y en el área de "Moorfields". Wesley organizó reuniones y visitó a los conversos; Así comenzó la Sociedad Metodista en Inglaterra.
Samuel Annesley, el padre de Susanna Wesley, fue expulsado de esta antigua iglesia en 1662.
John Wesley se casó con Molly Vazeille, una viuda, en 1751. Poco antes, se cayó y se torció gravemente el pie. Fue llevado a la casa de Vazeille aquí y pasó una semana convaleciente, atendido por Molly.

Pasaremos por varios monumentos aquí, incluyendo el de la Revuelta Campesina y el lugar donde los anglicanos fueron quemados en la hoguera.
El último púlpito anglicano se puso a disposición de John Wesley, quien continuó predicando aquí mucho después de haber sido bloqueado de otras iglesias de Londres.
Veremos secciones de la antigua muralla romana y una ruina de cerca de 1.000 años de un antiguo hospital.
Ahora que fue el hogar de una maravillosa Orquesta de Londres, San Lucas se consagró en 1733 y la parroquia de esta iglesia incluía la Sociedad Fundadora de John Wesley, que tomó la comunión aquí.
Este increíble y antiguo lugar de descanso para los no conformistas es el lugar de descanso final de la madre de John Wesley, Susanna, quien murió el 30 de julio de 1742. Otros, como William Blake y Daniel Defoe, yacían aquí.

I feel like I could have been in London on Easter. My life-changing experience has happened to me today! As an American United Methodist I went to England to see the Wesleyan sites to gain a greater understanding of my UMC roots. John Wesley inculcated the many converts with sobriety, clean living, hard work and piety. And including this Wesley College undergraduate too! I was very surprised by famous "Christ the Lord Is Risen Today" hymn associated with Easter written by Charles Wesley. “Jesus Christ is risen today” it brings together the two great themes of Holy Week and Easter, the Cross and the Resurrection and celebrates the message of Holy Week and Easter – Christ crucified and risen. I am truly blessed! Happy Easter!

We absolutely loved our tour! Despite Covid closures, our wonderful guide gave a tour we will always remember. Stephen was punctual, friendly and never made us feel like we were on a tour, more that he was a friend showing us interesting things he had discovered. We learned so many interesting facts about parts of London we would never have found or understood on our own, as well as showing us so many sites about John Wesley, the founder of Methodism. We saw Roman and Medieval ruins into the bargain! We highly recommend and will be seeking out Stephen for our next trip. We thoroughly enjoyed our walk and tour!

Kevin met us at our hotel and helped us navigate the tube system for the first time! He is a wealth of information and knew the best shortcuts to find significant Wesley sites. We took in a few “on the way” attractions including the Roman Wall and a rooftop view of London near St Paul’s. None of our questions were treated as inappropriate and were answered with a smile.
