Our first stop was Lauterbrunnen. Axel, our guide, said that we could take the cable car to Grutschalp and then take a short train ride to Murren. We had an hour and forty-five minutes to do this and get back to the bus. We and approximately eight of our fellow travelers decided to try it. We looked around Murren for 15 minutes so as not to be late for the bus. On the way back, the train lost electricity for approximately 30 minutes. The tour group was sitting next to each other, hoping that the bus would wait since it was such a large part of the overall tour group. We all finally made it to the bus lot, and the bus was gone. I believe the rest of the group tried to take public transport to catch the bus. We decided instead to stay in Lauterbrunnen and enjoy the day instead of chasing a bus that might not be at the next stop either. We paid approximately $120 to take a short bus ride to Lauterbrunnen. I contacted the tour operator to ask for half of my money back, and they said, “We have thoroughly investigated this, and no refund is due." I do hope the other travelers were able to track the bus down. We, on the other hand, had a lovely day in Murren. I would suggest that anyone wanting to take this tour out of Interlaken skip it and take public transportation instead.
Bus was comfortable, clean and on time , guide was knowledgeable and had great attitude, we took this trip to see waterfalls but due to lack of rain falls are all dried up, restaurants offered mediocre food at high prices , we couldn’t do what we planed for but overall we are satisfied.
This was a great bus tour that delivered what it promised. You get around 1 hour and 30 minutes at Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald each. It allows a great overview of the region, with time to take lunch at one spot or split meals across two - I did a mains lunch of raclette at Lauterbrunnen and a dessert of apple strudel at Grindelwald. Plus there was time for some great photos and souvenir shopping . Pick up and drop off in Interlaken was walking distance from city centre.
Mixed feelings. Felt it was a taxi service where driver takes you to a point, waits for you to come back and takes you to next point. Insider tips, unforgettable experience is just a selling point. We were asked to go on our own and come back in 1.5 hrs. So no activity or must see points. Just go around and come back. I would rather go on a train and explore myself and stay an additional hour instead.
Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald were both beautiful, "must see" places. Unfortunately, I just barely had enough time in Grindelwald to get a small meal and was only able to view and get pics of 2 of the 72 waterfalls in Lauterbrunnen...tour was just entirely too rushed... absolutely no time to eat in Lauterbrunnen.....I hope to return to Lauterbrunnen some day...I loved the views from the glass bus. I asked the tour guide questions in between getting on and off the bus so that I could learn more about the locations.
We were disappointed that the time specified on the itinerary of 2 hours is not what were told when we arrived in Lauterbrunnen. The tour guide said we can only stay for 1 hour. We were disappointed that the tour did not fulfill what was on the website. The main reason we took this tour is because of the 2 hour time frame allotted for Lauterbrunnen. We then have to buy train tickets back to Interlaken because we wanted to stay longer. In short there is conflicting information on the itinerary vs what the tour guide told us.
