It’s an enjoyable experience- hard to believe it’s on my door step. The weather was beautiful and there was plenty to see.
Howth itself is worth visiting. Finding the pick up spot was easy with the instructions given. They are right - parking in Howth is a nightmare so go early. The tour itself though was underwhelming. The boat is so big you can't get very close to the cliffs so the advertisement of potentially seeing puffins isn't necessarily fair - because unless you have good binoculars you aren't seeing any birds that closely. If you got on a full boat, which we did not, you might be stuck underneath inside and you're really not seeing anything without getting up and walking around. The person who was accounting for people's reservations was passive aggressively rude when we simply tried to tell him that his competitor asked us to go to another area. The statement was simple "we just wanted to let you know there is a group of us waiting for your trip on the other side of the entrance where we were told to stand." Instead of saying "okay thank you - that is where the group normally meets" the response was "I know - I do this every day." There is no actual "guide" it's a recording they play through the speakers. If I could give it a zero I would. Pros: Big boat that you can walk around on and don't necessarily have people standing up in front of you like the Howth Cliffs tour company's small boats. I did both. This one was better but not by much.
My mom and I found Dublin Bay Cruises on the Tourism Cares Meaningful Travel Map. We booked a cruise on our last day in Dublin after a 3 week trip together. It was a lovely way to end the trip. The island and cliffs we saw were beautiful and there were so many different kinds of birds. I'd love to hear more stories about the history of the land there. I have a tendency to get seasick so I was glad the boat was larger. They also have snacks and drinks available. I also appreciate their commitment to environmental responsibility. Thank you all so much.
It really was an amazing visit to this wonderful seaside town. We got to see some wonderful sites. Enjoy time on the water. Everybody on board was having a great time and it really couldn’t have been any better especially since the weather really cooperated and it was a gorgeous day. Plus, we got to visit the castle, which always makes it fun.
If your looking for a family fun day out that keeps little one's and parents entertained this is it! Could not reccomend Dublin Bay Cruises enough! From the friendly crew to the beautiful scenes you see during the sailing it was fantastic! The kids even met a new friend in the form of a seal in Howth! I would definitely recommend this Dublin excursion to family and friends alike!
Went for my son’s birthday. Was told on arrival that would be a bit bumpy but nothing could have prepared us for how bad it was. The boat took off very fast and kept rocking from side to side. Could not move as it was rocking so much. Both kids were sick. Could not wait for it to be over. Would not recommend it at all.
Views were great. Easy boarding and nice way to see the cliffs from a different vantage point. Nice to have the drinks and snacks available on board.
It would have been spectacular, had the starboard side of the boat gotten a view of Ireland's Eye. We had only a view of the sea,as there were too many people on the aft side, and we had nowhere to sit, as well as concern for the boat swamping in the swells. This cruise came highly recommended, but I'd have to decline it, had we known. Poor directions from the sign in town; had to go to tourist information to find where you were. We took the train from Dublin specifically to take this cruise. Would not recommend.
A wonderful relaxing cruise with amazing views. A beautiful island. Great entertainment for a day off. Both for small and big ones 🙃
The staff were friendly. The narration on the speakers was informative with a little additional detail from the captain which was nice, maybe include more in the future , little bit too much quiet in some parts! The weather conditions were quite windy so the sea was a little choppy but we enjoyed the experience overall!
