Descripción
Alfama no solo es uno de los barrios más antiguos y pintorescos de Lisboa, sino también uno de los pocos que no fue destruido por el terremoto de 1755. Por ello, la ciudad aún conserva su encanto familiar y pintoresco. De hecho, el nombre de este barrio proviene del árabe «Al-hamma», que significa «fuentes calientes» o «baños». Decoradas con hermosos azulejos, las empinadas y sinuosas callejuelas de este barrio dan paso a impresionantes vistas de un mar de tejados de terracota y del río Tajo. Los aromas de la cocina tradicional portuguesa, el eco del fado y las charlas de los ancianos portugueses hacen de este barrio uno de los más auténticos de Lisboa. Nuestro recorrido comienza en Rossio y pasa por algunas zonas clave antes de adentrarse en el corazón de Alfama, donde también hará una parada en el Miradouro Portas do Sol, antes de finalizar el recorrido en la catedral.

El Castillo de San Jorge es un castillo histórico en Lisboa, capital portuguesa, ubicado en la parroquia de Santa Maria Maior. La ocupación humana de la colina del castillo se remonta al menos al siglo VIII a. C., aunque las primeras fortificaciones construidas datan del siglo I a. C.

Jack was a superb guide, albeit a bit shaky on guitar legends from his hometown. He started with a very helpful introduction and went on from there to cover just about everything we wanted to know in 2.5 hours. It was a long hot climb but the stop for the excellent pastel de nata and the benelyn like ginga were well judged. We got a lot out of it. We followed up on several of his suggestions and they worked
