Después de 20 años de fotografiar y observar los patrones de comportamiento de las Ballenas Francas Australes que visitan anualmente Bahía Walker, me considero un especialista en comportamiento de ballenas y Ofrezco una experiencia única e interactiva de observación de ballenas en tierra, que incluye compartir conocimientos e historias personales que abarcan más de dos décadas. Durante el tiempo que estuve fotografiando a estos espectaculares mamíferos, se convirtió en un sueño para mí publicar un libro fotográfico de mesa de café. Introducción a las ballenas francas australes y Hermanus La visita al museo es para familiarizar a los clientes con la ballena franca austral, información sobre su tamaño, longitud y peso. Les digo la conexión / sinergia que hay entre las ballenas y Hermanus. Hablo de los días de la caza de ballenas y del impacto que tuvo en ellos y de cómo casi los llevó a su desaparición. Luego, el recorrido sigue el hermoso sendero del acantilado frente a la ciudad a una altura de aproximadamente 15 metros sobre el océano. Esta elevación se presta a tener una gran ventaja con vistas a la bahía. Lo que la gente no se da cuenta es que la profundidad del océano inmediatamente abajo de los acantilados es de unos 10 metros. Esto permite que las ballenas se acerquen a las rocas de los acantilados a una distancia prácticamente de contacto. Las ballenas se ven a menudo entre 50 y 300 metros de la costa.
Disfrute de una caminata de 2 horas por el sendero del acantilado conmigo mismo. Conozco todos los lugares secretos para avistar ballenas. Conozco a cada ballena íntimamente. Explicaré toda la información relevante de la edad de las ballenas, los comportamientos y el mejor momento posible de una infracción para obtener la mejor oportunidad para tomar fotografías.

This is a long overdue review. Our tour with Dave was beyond amazing. It was the highlight of our trip to Hermanus. He is just so passionate and shares all his knowledge. He went above and beyond and drove for a long time to show us the whales. I could not recommend him more. My family and I were delighted to meet him, an absolute privilege.
Obviously knowledgeable and enthusiastic about whales. Unfortunately did not see a single whale on this afternoon trip though had seen a mother and calf in the same area in the morning. That’s nature.

The tour with Dave is definitely a highlight of our tour. Dave has decades of experience and deep knowledge of whales. He was patient and enthusiastic with all of the questions we had. We had a boat-based whale watching tour the next day, and still find the tour with Dave very helpful and necessary. His tour helped us build a strong foundation and understanding of these magnificent animals. Dave tried his best to ensure that we could see the whales in the best location. He drove us to the nearby towns to look for great locations, and we were able to watch several whales. Through Dave, we also learned a lot about the history and culture of Hermanus and the towns around. We cannot recommend Dave’s tour enough! Whether you have a boat tour planned or not, this trip is a must-do. Thank you, Dave, for such a memorable and insightful adventure!

Definitely one of the highlights of our trip to South Africa. Dave was knowledgable and enthusiastic. He found several whales for us including a mother and baby so close to the shore - mum put on a great display! A fantastic experience!
