Dan was a great guide. He gave us all the history and interesting info about the stuff we saw and we had a great conversation the whole trip. He allowed us to wander off and come back, took photos for us, provided flashlights for the lava tube, and we even got to share some local produce. This tour was well worth the price we paid. They had the whole thing planned out perfectly and we even learned a bunch of things about the areas we visited. Dan gave us plenty of time to wander at each stop and got us back on the road to the next stop like clockwork. We happened to book a day with perfect weather and since it was a non-cruise day, our group was very small and personal. Everyone was friendly, the car was clean and comfortable (AC worked well!) and we genuinely had a great time.

So cool! Lots of steaming going on but unfortuneately no fountaining while we visited. It was interesting to see all the fissures and smooth lava fields within the crater itself. Definitely worth a visit here.

Outstanding trip for those who don't want to do the driving and get a taste of the Gardens, Rainbow Falls and the volcano. Dan provided is with a lot of facts and information about the Big Island

Kimo was great. Knowledgeable, kind, friendly. He took us to some places I might not have thought to go if I were driving around on my own. He gave recommendations for other locations to explore on our own as well.

So glad I found Malahini Tours. Our tour guide Dan was OUTSTANDING to say the least. The pick up was right on schedule at Hilo Airport and from there he provided a non-stop in depth narration of everything we saw. Dan's knowledge of the island and his easy going attitude made this trip even better. He even stopped at a local fruit stand and got several different things to try after our lava tube visit. Sweet and fresh island treats. The highlight of the tour was Volcano national park. Absoliutley breathtaking. I highly recomend Malahini Tours when visiting the Big island. Thank you again Dan for making our trip so enjoyable.

Our guide/driver Dan was excellent. He was very informative about the legends and history of the place and the island. He knew all the spots to go to in order to see the volcanoes. Unfortunately, we arrived just one day short of the 50th eruption event :( I'm still glad we went as it was on my bucket list of things to do in Hawaii.
