Experiencia de pesca compartida de medio día en Hydra

A wonderful day. Dimitris is a brilliant host, very informative, personable but also laid back and very chill. The boat is nice and small, intimate and feels authentic. The trip starts with a short journey out to where Dimitris has previously dropped his net. He then talks you through the fish he has caught as he pulls in the net. We then stopped at a lovely quiet bay where you can jump off the boat and swim in the sea whilst Dimitris prepared the fish for cooking. The trip was organised for my 40th and so a surprise birthday cake and bottle of prosecco met us via water taxi at the bay whilst we had stopped to eat the delicious fish Dimitris had caught and cooked. This must have taken quite a bit of coordination from Dimitris and Kathrin. All in all a perfect experience.

Expected a typical deep sea type of fishing experience, what we got was an intimate 1/2 day on the water witnessing the simple life of a fisherman from a small island in Greece. I loved the excitement of the anticipation of seeing what the net pulled in for us, Dimitrius, our Captain, was a one man crew, making it look easy. He prepared our catch along with a very tasty Greek salad that he cut and tossed on board while we swam and sunbathed in the black sand cove we anchored in. Sat at tables set up on the boat and had wine and conversation while we ate the freshest meal we had on our entire trip. If you are looking for a rod and reel experience, you may be disappointed, but if you value being part of an intimate experience and enjoying community and fresh food this is for you.

The host was extremely friendly and very informative about his fishing practices as well and about the island. It was so cool to see Hydra from a different perspective, and the lunch was delicious.

We didn’t actually know what to expect. One man operation, very interesting person. He pulled up his nets he put out earlier. What was in the net he cooked on the boat and with a Greek salad for lunch. Fish was delicious. Time for swimming, snorkeling and more fishing . Very fun trip!

Just me and my wife. Left on time. Lucky for us the weather was great. Motored a half hour or so to get to a long line Dimitris had put out the day before. 200 plus hooks. His skill was amazing. The two hour harvest mesmerized us. Lots of different fish overflowed the storage boxes. Even caught a stingray that Dimitris was very careful handling. Caught some other fish that were very scary looking. (that we ate) Then motored to a delightful bay and swam off the boat and relaxed with some beers while Dimitri prepared a wonderful lunch selected from his catch. Way more than we could eat but some of his friends apparently knew this was common and motored by to collect and eat what we couldn't finish. Then we motored back to the pick up point at Hydra's main port. Couldn't have asked for a more pleasant and fun experience. Dimitri couldn't have been nicer.

This is not what it’s supposed to be. Yes, it’s a fishing “experience” if you have the.patience to wait for Captain Dimitri to check the 400 hooks he baited the day before. The catch was meagre - four small fish and one eel. After 90 minutes, we then headed to a bay where Dimitri had to bargain with a luxury catamaran for a berth. The landing was littered with rubbish and the established ladder was covered with slime. The captain did produce a usable entry ladder which allowed access to the water. Dimitri served up the fish he caught yesterday (not today) along with a very average pasta. The fish was delicious as was the Greek salad. We then headed back to Hydra. All up, it was an interesting experience but very overpriced for a swim, lunch and a few beers.

We loved the experience which was genuine and relaxing. Dimitri is such a good person that loves his job and his island. He cooked us a pasta with calamari , fried fish just caught and Greek salad couldn’t ask for more.! Highly recommend the experience thank you 💫

We had the most amazing day off the coast of Hydra! A highlight of our trip! The fishing experience included swimming and an amazing lunch prepared right on the boat with the fish caught. Our guide was excellent: knowledgable and very friendly. Make sure to include this day excursion when you go to Hydra! The best!

Dimitris provided an amazing meal, regional information and an opportunity for snorkeling in the beautiful waters! We enjoyed the pleasant conversation and learning about Hydra, the fishing industry and Greek life. The delicious lunch consisted of Greek Salad (with olive oil from his own trees), fish soup, fresh fillets, bread and drinks! It was so much more than we expected!

We appreciated the good communication regarding the trip and the amazing guide service. At first the weather was predicted to be too windy and the host reached out immediately to try to make alternate plans. We had such a great time and the areas we visited were beautiful. We were amazed at the tasty lunch he cooked up with the fish we caught plus pasta with shrimp, Greek salad and fresh bread along with drinks. We would highly recommend this trip and this beautiful island.
