We loved the Bell Tower tour! It is more than just walking up to the bell tower! You climb the spiral stairs and pause several times to see different things. First is a room with a short film with English subtitles (thank you!) and then another stop along the way in the Bell Ringer's house (so interesting!) and finally you reach the top! The views are wonderful and the guide gave us plenty of time to enjoy it.
The cathedral is enormous, with Gothic-style towers and spires that are quite unique. Even though it was also beautiful inside, it was more unusual and memorable outside. We took the guided tower tour (it was in Spanish, but they gave us audio guides in English), which required us to climb 190 steps to the belfry. It was a tough climb, but worth it for the view and photos.
Included in the ticket for the tower (reviewed elsewhere) was entry to the rest of the cathedral and it seems that each cathedral we have visited on this trip gets more and more spectacular. There was more fabulous artwork throughout the building but especially in the underground galleries. The cloisters were just beautiful, especially with the low sun casting shadows across the floor. The rooms with clerical vestements and church trasures and reliqueries were certainly worth visiting too as was the Tapestries Room, although these were rather faded after 400 years. It was interesting that the paintings on display downstairs - including some famous ones - were listed by artist and then the title of the work. All in all I think we spent 2 hours in the cathedral.
Very nice the cathedral and the history of the mountain that carries the bible in its hands to the entrance above the incredible door as for so many years these architectural wonders were built
Couldn’t reach the schedule. Accident in AP6. 2 hours from Madrid. They didn’t care. In the Alcazar absolutely different.
A marvel of a cathedral. Both the construction itself and the statues, carvings....highly recommended the guided visit to the bell tower. Of course, not suitable for people with mobility problems since you have to climb many steps, I seem to remember that 190 (stops are made). The girl, who plays Guide, is very nice and explains everything very well.
Essential!!! Excellent Guide, very good communicator and endearing. They are punctual and it is nice to know the history and the emblematic place.
Very nice tour guide, incredible views. A must-see when visiting Segovia. Highly recommended. Don't hesitate to visit it.
We loved the Cathedral of Segovia and we booked a guided tour of the tower. Our guide was Julia, and she makes the tour so enjoyable that the 190 steps up will pass you by almost without realizing it. A 10 for our guide!! Stunning views and the history of the tower told by Julia is delightful. Totally recommended
Extremely enjoyable and informative tour of the tower. The English audio guide we were given was the best commentary we have experienced in Spain. Awesome views and time to enjoy the experience.
