Los Museos Capitolinos son la colección pública más antigua del mundo, con una colección impresionante de todo, desde estatuas antiguas hasta pinturas renacentistas. El Papa Sixto IV entregó los famosos bronces de Letrán a la ciudad de Roma. Este regalo incluía la Loba, el Spinario, el Camilo, la colosal cabeza de Constantino con su mano y el Globo. Desde entonces, las esculturas antiguas se han recogido en el Capitolio. Comenzaremos nuestro viaje a través de este increíble lugar desde el Palazzo Nuovo, donde podrá admirar muchas esculturas famosas, como el Gálata moribundo, la Venus capitolina, los dos centauros y el Fauno danzante, pero también relieves, mosaicos, bronces desde el helenístico hasta el época romana y los maravillosos bustos de los gobernantes. Dentro de este increíble lugar, puede relajarse explorando las obras de Caravaggio, Pietro da Cortona, Guercio, Tintoretto, Annabelle Carracci, Paolo Veronese, Tiziano, Rubens, Antonio Van Dyck y muchos otros artistas.

Guide was great, a little tough to understand, but our issue was limited hours during New Years Eve, not her fault but felt rushed and not the best tour.

We enjoyed seeing the fascinating and ancient items housed in the Capitoline museum. The archeologist who led the tour was informative and showed us highlights of the collection which she enriched with pertinent historical and political context.
