Descripción
It is also essential to visit the Cathedral of Granada, one of the most important works of the Spanish Renaissance. But, also recognized as a must is the Royal Chapel, one of the most beautiful late Gothic buildings in Spain. It is one of the largest mausoleums in Europe and is a symbol of Christianity as it was the place where the Catholic Monarchs decided to rest forever. The tombs of Juana -her daughter-, Felipe -her son-in-law- and Miguel de la Paz -her grandson- are also found here. This visit will take place in two parts, the first at 10h we will visit the Cathedral and the Royal Chapel and at 17h we will visit the neighborhoods of the Albaicín and Sacromonte. Each visit lasts 2 hours.

Cathedral was erected on the place where the Main Mosque of the city used to be on behalf of Isabella of Castilla and its one of the first Renaissance constructions of Spain.
Royal Chapel is built right next to the Cathedral and the Madraza -the old Koranic School... It is one of the biggest mausoleums in Europe and it is a symbol for Christianity as it was the place where the Catholic Kings decided to rest forever. The graves of Juana -their daughter-, Philippe -their son in law- and Miguel de la Paz -their grandson- are located here as well.
Walking through the narrow cobbled streets with the help of a private guide in Albaicín and Sacromonte, is the best experience you can enjoy, since a guided tour of this type allows you to know the attractive features of the city from a magnificent way, not only that of an official guide simply, but of a person who lives and feels magic and beauty, as well as the history of the place.
Sacromonte, a neighbourhood built on the rock. It was born 500 years ago to give shelter to the persecuted, some seeking freedom and others in search of treasures. Reaching it still has a point of adventure, streets that disappear at the edge of a pit or communicate between steep stairs, lead to another Granada born behind the valley of Valparaíso.

My husband and I booked this extended tour to learn all we could about Granada. The tour wound up being two parts. They were originally scheduled together, but the second half was pushed back to the evening which was actually better for us as we had a break in between. We loved our guides, Laura and Celia. Laura was very patient with our group as we got off to a rough start, but she was very knowledgable and you could tell how much she liked talking about the history of the cathedral and royal chapel. Celia was also great. She was patient with us all as it was a big group and we had many hills to climb. I appreciated how she gave us breaks and answered all of our questions. She took us to see the inside of a cave home and to see where Flamenco dances are performed. It was fantastic.
