Foxtrail Scavenger Hunt - Sendero anfibio Vancouver

DO NOT book with Foxtrail Canada. I rarely give negative reviews but I don’t want another family to be disappointed and out $. We attempted the Foxtrail Amphibious Trail Vancouver experience on March 16, 2024 at 1:40 p.m. At the very start, the lockbox at Martway that was to contain supplies was empty. Martway management didn’t have a solution. We left two urgent voicemails and an email with Foxtrail and waited for 90 minutes but never heard back. We went home a bunch of sad sacks. Two days later, we received an apologetic email from Patricia Monteiro with Foxtrail and were assured she had “initiated the process” for our refund. We follow up three times in the coming months and were continually reassured our refund was on the way. On July 29, we received one last message that stated, “Internally we are facing some changes and these have prevent us from acting sooner. I will again check when can we proceed with the refund and get back to you.” No responses since then and we’re left feeling ghosted and utterly frustrated.

What a waste of time! We were so excited to do this. Loaded the app. Got to the starting point. Solved the first clue. Got to the lockbox for the second clue. Got the lockbox open, only to find that it was empty. They said that if we couldn’t find what we needed, to ask the person behind the counter. He had nothing for us. What a bust. Well advertised. Badly executed.

This tour is for sale on Tripadvisor but the truth is, it doesn’t exist! We paid to do this tour yesterday, drop over an hour into the city, did the first clue, and then the next clue, which was supposed to be a lock box with a map in it, was empty! The proprietor at the store said that they no longer support the tour! Why is it still up for purchase? The local contact info and email address don’t respond, so I called Tripadvisor/Viator and after nearly 30 min, the only result was that they’d contact the tour provider to confirm if we would qualify for a refund. My credit card was charged by Viator, so not sure why there was any question! I asked for a manager to call me back because the fact that the refund wasn’t instant and that the agent wouldn’t even apologize for the situation was really frustrating me. No one has called me back. Pretty bad! Tripadvisor, you’re the reputable party selling this tour! Take it down and be accountable. Doesn’t hurt to say sorry when you mess up, either. Make it right!

We were a team of father and son visiting Canada in winter 2022. I did the Amphibious trail with a pre-teen, based on a recommendation from his friend, who had done it the week before. The friend's father wouldn't tell me more, just that he was sure we would enjoy it. AND we did! It's hard to say too much here without spoiling your experience, but I would say this trail was one of the best city experiences I've had. A fun way to see parts of Vancouver (including both well known touristy bits (hint hint) as well as some lesser-trodden bits of the city. I would definitely recommend it for first timers to Vancouver who have at least half a day to spare (we probably took longer than most, including because of the weather). Do this trail early in your trip, before you explore too much!It's worth the money and a great family or friends group activity to explore Vancouver. Some further detail : 1. The signup and onboarding to get the game materials was smooth. The app seemed user-friendly, and (no spoilers in the review!) the kick off was a hint of what lay ahead (things were not just digital and in the app). 2. Challenges were a good mix of word puzzles/brain teasers, area searches, and some very welcome physical activities - nothing strenuous, just things that needed hands and fingers and talking to your teammates, and not everyone being immersed in phone screens. I really enjoyed that difference vs some other city games. Some clues really opened our eyes to Vancouver and some hidden gems and vistas; definitely we saw some bits of the city I doubt we'd ever have come to. 3. Unfortunately for us, the day we chose was a rainy one, with a cold (around freezing) drizzle the whole day. Not the best day to be outdoors, and we were suitably cold and miserable (I also had a smaller child with us, so started to get worried). Some game materials also got sodden in the rain and disintegrated as the day got darker. It was hard to move fast and we called it off. 4. Foxtrail CA was fairly responsive to emails on admin and during the hunt, and very kindly helped us out in finishing the game when the weather improved - in fact it was a glorious day when we did the last few puzzles in the (non-raining) light that it was probably intended for. We really appreciated that, so we could say we finished (and tell our friends)! 5. Come prepared to walk, take pictures, explore, and don't forget to dress for the weather for the day! :)

The remote team got together and foxtrail was a great way to finally meet in person and get to know everyone a bit better. My group was the fastest, so we are keeping bragging rights for a while. We totally recommend this activity for companies.

My friends surprised me with an outdoor activity for my birthday and I confess it was amazing! I went through some places I didn't know before. Some puzzles are tricky but we used the app to help us. Very interesting concept. I recommend it for special celebrations.

Play! Think! Move! Foxtrail is a great mix of treasure hunt and escape room outdoors. Really cool experience to do in Vancouver with your friend or work colleagues.

Nice team building activity with lots of different challenges. No pattern at all. Good idea to have a help feature in the app. Everyone loved it and we celebrated in style!

My boyfriend and I did the Amphibious trail and it was so much fun! We loved getting to see new parts of Vancouver and had a great time solving all the clues. We took our time exploring so it was great to have flexibility with the timing!
