El baptisterio de San Giovanni Battista es un famoso edificio religioso de Florencia, ubicado en la Piazza San Giovanni del mismo nombre, frente a la catedral de Santa Maria del Fiore. Dedicada al santo patrón de la ciudad, fue durante siglos el lugar donde los florentinos obtenían el bautismo y era el lugar de investidura de caballeros y poetas (aquí también fue bautizado Dante). Verás las Puertas del Paraíso, la puerta principal del Baptisterio. La Porta del Paradiso, en italiano, fue creada por el orfebre y escultor florentino Lorenzo Ghiberti entre 1425 y 1452 e instalada en el portal oriental del Baptisterio. Las Puertas han sido elogiadas por generaciones de artistas e historiadores del arte por su convincente representación de escenas del Antiguo Testamento. Con el tiempo, las puertas de bronce de cinco metros de altura y tres toneladas de peso se convirtieron en un ícono del Renacimiento, una de las obras de arte más famosas del mundo.
El campanario de Giotto es el campanario de Santa María del Fiore, la catedral de Florencia, y está ubicado en la Piazza del Duomo.

The climb was totally worth it, even in the sweltering heat. Tight squeeze at the top anyone 5’11” or greater will have to watch your heads at the top.
Was so easy! We skipped the line to climb all the way to the top of the Dome.A friendly lady Allessandra was our tour guide and gave an excellent tour of the dome museum before our climb. Avoiding queue and seamless entry to both the museum and dome climb was well worth it. Allessndra also explained how we could skip the line for the baptistery,and cathedral and crypts as part of this tour. Thank you was great.
This tour was great. Our guide Emmanuelle was extremely knowledgeable (PhD in Art History). I can't begin to describe how much I learnt on the tour, the museum was particularly impressive and we didn't feel too rushed in our visit. The climb wasn't too taxing and again Emmanuelle was a fantastic guide. Highly recommended.

It was a very informative, educational and fun tour, would definitely recommend taking this tour. Worth bypassing the lines.
Becky was upbeat and full of knowledge about the history of this beautiful cathedral. We had visited the Duomo in Milan the day before, and although that one is much more ornate, there is such a beauty to this one. Still gorgeous on the outside, the inside seems much more hollowed out but the ceiling of the dome is absolutely stunning with all the paintings. Becky knew so much and she let us know which part of the climb was the most challenging etc. It was 95 degrees the day we went and I was happy to find out the climb did not reflect the temp outside. It wasn’t “air conditioned” but I think the thick, stone walls do a good job of insulating from the outside. The sweat was rolling just from the task of all the stairs but the view is unmatched. You can walk 360 degrees around it. The climb down was a cinch comparatively. Super happy we booked this!

The visit to the Duomo of Florence was beautiful. The explanations from our guide, Becky, were excellent.
The dome climb was a highlight — I really enjoyed that part. The first part of the tour was too heavy on history; we spent a good 30 minutes just standing at the museum entrance going over background information. I also wasn’t a fan of the interactive elements, where our guide split us into groups for various activities. I understand the intent behind it, but personally, I prefer to just enjoy my vacation rather than participate in group exercises. Overall, the tour felt too long — the first half alone, with all the talking and history, took about 1.5 hours. That said, we did have three tours that day, so some of that impression may just be fatigue rather than the tour itself.
We had Becky as our tour guide. She was incredible. So knowledgeable and took care of the group. We ran late to the event due to train issues and the company answered my messages immediately. Luckily we were able to meet up with the group before they started the climb and then Betsy oriented us to the museum tour after the climb. Very happy to have found this tour and highly recommend for others!
Emanuele was incredible . I knew the climb would be tough . On such a hot day even in the cool stairs , it was hard and everyone in the group sweat . I like to think I’m in shape but it was much harder than I imagined . Completely worth it ! View was incredible !!!! Fair warning to those that may have vertigo / motion sickness . There are many stairs that wind up for multiple levels and it’s a tight space . I was dizzy going up and down !
I had a great time on this fun experience. Our guide Becky is a long time Fiorentina and was *super* knowledgeable about the art and architecture of the Duomo. She made it even more fun! I learned a lot and enjoyed meeting the 8 or so other people on my tour. Word of caution: there are a LOT of steps to get up to the dome. The views are amazing and totally worth the climb but you should be aware of the level of difficulty.
