Louise's set dancing class is deadly. Whether you're a complete beginner or an all round dancer, her class is perfect for everyone. She has an effortless style, breaking down the steps easily so you feel like a pro (even if you are still trying to remember the last step). If you're looking for a fun set dancing experience, Louise's class is not to be missed!
Thanks so much Carmel, lovely to have you dancing with us!:)
I had an amazing time at Louise's classes. It's so good that I keep coming back for more. The atmosphere is friendly and inclusive. Everyone is smiling and having fun. Such great vibes. We are all friends by the end of the night. I would definitely recommend.
Thanks Siobhán, delighted that you enjoy it!:)
Louise's Celtic Dance Party is one of the best events that I've ever attended. We learned how to dance traditional Irish sets with expert guidance. Louise came around to every group to make sure we understood the steps. I met lots of new people and laughed so much. Such a great night out! I highly recommend trying it out. Go with friends or go solo and make new friends. You're guaranteed to have a wonderful time!
Thanks so much Sarah. It was a pleasure to have you dance with us :)
I went to a set dancing class at the Cobblestone a few weeks ago and had so much fun. Louise is a great teacher and by the end of the class we were all able to do a full dance together. I am a total beginner but it was very accessible to me. I liked it so much that I went to a céilí she was running a few weeks later and it was one of the most fun things I've done in Dublin!! Really recommend this and I will definitely be going back. Just a great night where everyone is welcoming and everyone is having fun.
Thanks so much Melanie, great to have you at the Céilí too!:)
I joined Louise's dance classes while I was in Dublin on secondment for 3 months last year. I'm so glad I plucked up the courage to go along by myself, because the Monday night classes and Friday night Ceili run by Louise were one of the highlights of my time in Ireland. The classes were great fun, the perfect place to meet new people (of all ages and nationalities) and have fun while getting some good exercise. I would highly recommend, Louise is a great teacher and I had so much fun! If I ever make it back to Ireland I know the first thing I'll be signing back up for! :)
Louise is an exceptional instructor! She taught me my foundation for set, céilí and sean nós dancing. Her nights at the Cobblestone are unforgettable, I recommend signing up fast as the classes are very popular and can fill up quickly. Louise's teaching style is incredibly accommodating and inclusive.
The Dublin Celtic Dance Party is such a wonderful event!! Louise O'Connor is an energetic and competent teacher; she and the band are very talented and lead with patience. As a complete beginner when it comes to céilí dancing, Louise and other dancers were welcoming and make sure to include dancers at all levels. I've been to a handful of the céilís, and intend on going back. Would highly recommend.
Absolutely loved this; it was brilliant fun! The teacher, Louise, creates an atmosphere that is warm and welcoming. There was a great mix of beginners and more experienced dancers, and Louise was incredibly encouraging. It's such a great opportunity for locals and visitors to jump in and experience Irish dancing as well as Irish music without feeling nervous or reserved. Not only was Louise welcoming, but all the other dancers were enthusiastic and happy to meet new folks. My friends and I are so excited to go again!
More varied show with Irish dance and music. Looks a lot like Riverdance, but smaller. Gives a good idea of traditional Irish music. Good seating comfort on upholstered chairs. Show lasts about two hours, including a twenty-minute break.
Whenever I speak with people who intend to visit Ireland, I always recommend they don't just visit the usual spots around Dublin, but to visit the West of Ireland. The West probably gets the worst weather in the country. Despite this, I still recommend people go there for some of the most dramatic beautiful scenery. But most of all, I recommend people go West for the people. I have always admired the people from the West of Ireland for their positive unflappable outlook, even when all around them are panicking, maybe this resilience is due to them being comfortable with being uncomfortable. I have also found them to be inclusive, curious, warm & welcoming. The Celtic Dance Party feels like a little slice of the West. Having been there several times, I’ve been impressed at what a diverse group of people are there, maybe 50% Irish / 50% International, with a wide range of ages from early 20’s up to one or two into their 70’s. Everybody is made feel welcome, no matter how bad they are at dancing (trust me, I’ve pushed the limits of bad dancing). I couldn’t recommend it enough, if you go, please get out and dance, while Irish dancing is difficult to do correctly, embrace the spirit of the West & enjoy giving it a try, even if you get it wrong (it’s just as fun getting it wrong as right). Dance instruction by Louise is excellent, and a live band makes for a really authentic experience. While there are similar experiences in Dublin, I feel what I have tried to date are 100% geared towards tourists & you are not getting the authentic experience. This really is something special, get out there on the dance floor & have the craic!
