We turn up at 1.50pm and no one was there to wait for us, when I book it there was no contact number for them to phone them!!! This was for my uncle birthday and first time in Korea, very disappointed Viator took their side. And we only got back about 25% of our money back!!! Saying we were late!! They have my number and they can easily call me But it didn’t stop us doing the fish market, we order a king crab and few other fish from the stall and they throw in some prawn and clams for free for 5 of us. And took us up the stairs to be cook and it work out cheaper than this tour
Thank you for your review. I was the guide that day and was genuinely disappointed we didn’t connect in person. I arrived at the meeting point at 1:50 p.m. and stayed until after 2:15 p.m., taking a timestamped photo to document that no guests were present. I also did not receive any call or message, though Viator includes our direct contact details on every confirmation for exactly this reason. Our tours begin at the scheduled time, not as a suggested arrival, and guides are instructed to arrive 10–15 minutes early and wait up to 15 minutes after the start time. If we haven’t heard from guests by then, we have to assume it’s a no-show so that later tours can run on time. Viator’s decision in this case was based on that documented timeline, following their normal process. While the fish market is open to anyone, our private tours are designed to add local insight — helping guests choose vendors confidently, understand seafood culture, and communicate with stall owners. Even though the circumstances met the standard for a no-show, we still issued a partial refund out of goodwill. I truly wish we’d had the chance to share the full experience together.
I wasn't sure if going on this tour on my own would be a good idea, especially because I didn't find many reviews, but it was definitely an amazing experience - we walked through the fish market, chose the fish and seafood and then had it prepared directly in a restaurant within the market. Meeting and talking with Simon was truly nice. After the meal, we went into a local coffee place and I had one of the best espressos of my life there. Wish I could do this every weekend!
Awww... your words were very touching. It sounds like Simon's shared with you his passion for Korean food and culture, which we've all experienced from him. We feel you. We wish you could do that every weekend. At least you got to immerse yourself and experience why we love it here.
Ron has been so kind and helpful and explain us everything about the fish market. A unique experience versed by a nice sens of humour
Ron does have a talent for mixing seafood facts with a bit of humor. Glad you enjoyed exploring the market and picking out some fresh crab—it’s one of the best ways to experience Seoul.
