Great experience with Deepak.

This was such a fun food tour, even though it rained quite heavily and we ended up getting wet along the way 😅 Somehow, that just became part of the experience! Our guide Deepak was incredibly knowledgeable, not only about the food but also about Kathmandu’s history, culture and traditions. I especially enjoyed that he shared his own opinions and perspectives rather than simply giving us a rehearsed explanation. It made the tour feel much more like having a local friend showing you around and introducing you to the food and stories behind it. We tried so many different things, and my favourites were probably thukpa and the sweet lassi, surprisingly 🫢 Would definitely recommend this if you want to experience Kathmandu through its food rather than just sightseeing. Just come prepared to walk, eat a LOT, learn about Kathmandu, and brinh raincoat/umbrella in case the weather decides not to cooperate. 😂

Deepak is a fantastic guide, very kind; we did the food tour in Kathmandu with him and we had a great time, lots of food and very good, and some very beautiful places walking through the streets. Although he doesn't speak Spanish yet, we understood each other quite well with him; he tries very hard to make himself understood. He speaks English perfectly.

The best experiences I’ve had in Kathmandu! The food and drink tour was absolutely amazing. Deepak Kashivaha took us to authentic local places that I would never have found on my own. Deepak gave an amazing tour, told us a lot about Nepal and the food and took us to some great places. Would recommend if you are interested in the food and culture of Kathmandu.

Had an awesome time on Deepak’s food tour and would definitely recommend it. The six stops were all thoughtfully chosen, with a great variety of dishes, clean restaurants (with good washrooms), and all the food was included in the price. I also have dietary restrictions (no gluten or spicy food), and Deepak made sure I had great alternatives at every stop. It was the perfect introduction to Kathmandu’s food scene. We tried everything from chatamari and yomari to thukpa, momos, panipuri, masala tea, fresh sugarcane juice, and lassi. The best part was Deepak himself. He’s traveled a lot and is passionate about what he does. I asked a ton of questions about Nepal, the food, and the culture, and he always had an answer. It felt more like exploring the city with a knowledgeable friend than being on a tour.

If you are considering a food tour in Kathmandu and Deepak is your guide, stop looking and book it. As a family of three spanning three generations, an 11-year-old, a 35-year-old and a 65-year-old, we often find that guided tours naturally cater more to one age group than another. Deepak was the rare guide who connected effortlessly with all of us. By the end of the tour, it felt less like we were being shown around by a guide and more like we were exploring Kathmandu with a knowledgeable friend who was deeply proud of his city. What sets Deepak apart is his genuine passion for Nepal and its food culture. Every dish came with a story. Every lane had a history. Every stop revealed a little more about the people, traditions and rhythms of Kathmandu. His commentary never felt rehearsed. It was warm, authentic and filled with personal insights that brought the city to life. As travellers, we are adventurous eaters but also mindful of hygiene. Deepak struck the perfect balance. He introduced us to charming local establishments that we would never have discovered on our own, while ensuring every stop met high standards of cleanliness and food safety. We could simply relax and enjoy the experience. The food itself was exceptional. We sampled an incredible variety of traditional Nepali and Newari specialities including crispy Egg Chatamari, comforting Nepali Masala Milk Tea, the deliciously sweet Chaku Yomari, perfectly textured Plain Bara, a soul-warming bowl of Egg Thukpa, refreshing Sugarcane Juice with Lemon, flavourful Chicken Kothay Momo and a wonderfully rich Nepali Sweet Lassi to finish. Every dish felt thoughtfully chosen to showcase a different facet of Nepal's culinary heritage. Yet what made the tour memorable was not just the food. Deepak generously shared stories about local life, architecture, traditions and culture. He pointed out hidden gems, gave practical shopping advice and answered every question with enthusiasm and honesty. His love for Kathmandu is infectious and by the end of the walk we found ourselves seeing the city through his eyes. Many food tours focus on eating. Deepak's tour is about understanding a place through its food, people and stories. It was one of the richest cultural experiences of our Nepal trip and undoubtedly one of its highlights. Thank you, Deepak, for your warmth, knowledge and generosity. We came away with full stomachs, wonderful memories and a much deeper appreciation of Nepal. My son and I had a great time with Deepak!!!!! It was our first time in Kathmandu and first time with Nepali food. It was truly an amazing experience. The pace was good and the mixtures of flavors was spot on. The culture conversations were fascinating and very informative.
