I booked this session for my daughter and her friend, two 14 years old girls and they loved the experience ! They came back very enthousiastic, saying t was an amazing kintsugi experience. They told me that the ladies were extremely polite and welcoming. They took picture of the artwork and were very pleased to share it with me. It is a little bit pricey but it is worth the money considering the quality of the lesson, environnement and human value, authentic Japanese traditions and hospitality. I would definitely recommend !
From my granddaughter: "I am 11 years old, and this was one of the best things I did in Japan! I had never heard of kintsugi before, and now I think it's amazing. I loved repairing a broken bowl with gold, and I learned that broken things don't have to be thrown away—they can become even more beautiful. My teacher was so sweet and kind. She smiled all the time, explained everything patiently, and made me feel like I could do it too. I never felt nervous, even when I wasn't sure I was doing it right. I also loved making real matcha tea and learning lots of interesting stories about Japan. It didn't feel like a lesson at all—it felt like spending time with someone who really loves sharing her culture. I will always remember this class and I can't wait to show my kintsugi bowl to my friends when it arrives home. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!"
This was an excellent experience. It was intimate and authentic. Michiko is a true artist and you can tell she loves what she does. She takes pride in her craft and is a great teacher. Her assistant was attentive and helpful. I would recommend this class to anyone who wants to try a Kintsugi workshop.
I loved the Kintsugi class with Michiko! It was such a lovely exprience, learning something about japanese culture and traditions. As we live in a very convenient and fast-paced world, it’s so easy to replace anything. But this workshop teaches you, there is beauty in repairing something that’s broken. Making it a unique piece and seeing potential in something that is “not perfect”, maybe making it perfect in your individual way. Especially crafting with own hands can bring so much joy and peace and is such a meditative practice. Michiko is really a kind and warm person and her knowledge and craftsmanship are amazing. It was an honour to learn from her. I can highly recommend this workshop for anyone, who is looking for a very unique experience in Japan, where you walk out with a self-made souvenir, a light heart and smile on your face. What a nice way to spend the time during a rainy day. Thank you Michiko for providing the beautiful space! I feel grateful to have met you (:
We had a great morning with Michiko! When we arrived she prepared us a delicious cup of Matcha. Then she told us about the history of Kintsugi while setting us up with barley tea and a beautiful selection of sweet and savory snacks. Then we worked on repairing our broken plates (she has a selection to choose from). My husband was surprised by how much he enjoyed this activity and thanked me later for scheduling it.
Brilliant brilliant brilliant! Michiko-san provided a wonderful experience - from the matcha, to the barley tea, to the snacks...and that was just the warm up. The Kintsugi workshop was excellent and every step was explained to us. Michiko-san is a wonderful teacher and we ended up with some nice looking plates. Would recommended to everyone, fantastic!
Wonderful and calming experience! I wasn’t sure what to expect and completely exceeded expectations, including the overall experience and friendliness of our instructors. I would highly recommend!
This is a truly wonderful workshop. Michiko's skill and love for this art shines. Her patience and guidance for novices like us were most appreciated! It was an honour to learn from Michiko and to understand a little more about kintsugi. Our plates are now on full display in our home. Thank you Michiko.
Michiko is an incredible teacher and host. My husband and I had a great experience at Mon Cadeau learning the art of kintsugi and seeing the beauty in the imperfect. It was the calm respite in a busy city that allowed us to be very present while fully taking in kintsugi - the history, the craft, and the art. Michiko went above and beyond to welcome us into her space with tea, sweets and letting us say hi to her dog! She is truly a master at what she does and this experience was absolutely a highlight of our honeymoon! I'd highly recommend this experience to anyone who has the opportunity to visit.
We had an amazing experience learning about - and practicing - modern kintsugi at Mon Cadeu. There is decent history about the culture around the custom and its practice as well as a full process from break to gold leaf with guidance and support, not to mention delicious matcha tea and yummy traditional Japanese treats! Will be recommending to absolutely everyone when they visit!
