Johnny B. & Ariel were wonderful. We learned SO much, and really felt immersed in the BriBri culture. Thank you for allowing us into your home.
Ariel was fantastic . We took a short hike to the farm and had the best personal experience . The family was super nice and the chocolate was amazing . We finished with a short hike to a waterfall. Highly reccomand
Absolute highlight our tour. The indigenous family welcomed us and their garden friendly and showed us around. The diverse plants, leaves, roots are often used for medicinal purposes. In the end, we made cocoa and chocolate ourselves - the complete process! Warm chocolate with warm bananas - my favorite. For sweetness in cocoa, we squeezed juice from sugar cane - impressive!
Ariel was absolutely incredible. We did both the cacao tour and the night tour with him in Puerto Viejo, and it was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. He is extremely knowledgeable and informative, but what really sets him apart is how engaging and personable he is. Ariel has genuine, personal relationships with the Bribri people, which made the cacao tour feel authentic and deeply meaningful — not like a typical tourist experience. You could tell there was real trust and connection there, and that made the entire experience even more special. During the night tour, his energy was just as strong. He was funny, interesting, and passionate about what he was teaching us. He made the jungle come alive in a way that was both educational and exciting. We learned so much, but it never felt like a lecture — it felt like an adventure with a friend who truly loves what he does. If you’re in Puerto Viejo, booking with Ariel is a must. This was easily one of the highlights of our trip.
We had an amazing time doing the cocao tour with Ariel ! We learned so much history about The Bri Bri indigenous culture , we learned so much about nature that we never knew existed ! We got to experience the richness of CostaRica’s Jungle ! They cooked us a meal and placed it in a leaf for us to eat , taught us some words from the bri bri and even showed us the medicinal properties of the plants ! Making the Cocao was such an amazing experience , and seeing the effort put into something so delicious was really rewarding ! I would definitely recommend this tour. !
We had a wonderful day with Ariel! He told us a lot about nature and the Bribris. We tasted many fruits, made our own cocoa paste and drank hot cocoa. There was a delicious lunch and finally we bathed in the waterfall. The tour is highly recommended!
Picked us up and took us on the reservation to learn about plants and the tribes history then made chocolate and after went to waterfalls. So nice. Also lunch was provided. Amazing
My friends and I had a wonderful day on the farm and at the waterfalls. We learned so much about BriBri culture and chocolate making. The family who owns the farm is so warm and welcoming, and the lunch they prepared was delicious!
Thanks for choosing this experience.
My boyfriend and I had an amazing time on the chocolate tour with Ariel! From the start, we were picked up from where we were staying and dropped off afterward, which made everything super convenient. Ariel was an exceptional guide, friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to. He taught us so much about the Bri Bri culture, including how to say hello in Bri Bri, which made the experience even more special. The tour was incredibly interactive and engaging, we got to participate in the chocolate-making process, and everything felt very hands-on. We also visited a beautiful waterfall and enjoyed fresh coconut water and fruits, which were included. Overall, this was such a unique and memorable experience. We would 1000% recommend it to anyone visiting Costa Rica!
This was an amazing experience! It was really interesting to learn about the Bribri culture and make chocolate on the reservation. You go to a local tribe’s house and learn about the chocolate making process, have some lunch, make chocolate and then swim in the Bribri waterfall! The Bribri are very welcoming and the chocolate is great (and bitter at 100% Cacao). I’d highly recommend !
