Jesus Castro was our driver for the day. He did an excellent job. I highly recommend you requesting him. He helped me figure out how to maximize the efficiency of our time to cover as much ground as possible. He made sure we were safe when on foot and protected us from traffic. His recommendations were spot on. We were initially disappointed that we couldn't go to the most elevated viewpoint but he came through by taking us to the most wonderful bed and breakfast that had an amazing view. The host of the b&b was the sweetest lady. We had a really really good time and cant wait to visit again with Jesus.

We had the privilege of Elian Sosa hosting our group for the Tour of Puerto Plata. Elian was very attentive and managed our time greatly to make sure we were able to do everything we wanted to do in our time at the port. He was very knowledgeable and was able to take us to a couple spots not even on our list that made great additions. Tabacalera Cremo, del oro chocolate, macorix rum, and more made for a memorable anniversary trip for my wife and I. Thank you for a great experience!

Elian was amazing. He shared so much history about his country and showed us so many neat things along the way when we gave him things we wanted to and knew what was open and closed how to get there and gave us options. It was one of the best experiences.

The driver followed what was almost certainly a preset route. We did suggest a couple of things we wanted to see but these are popular spots, so they were probably on the route to begin with. The driver was efficient and polite and got us to all of the major sites of Puerto Plata. I was surprised that he was rather sparse on the narration. If he knew a lot about the sites, he wasn’t volunteering it. We did have to interview him somewhat. They’re off the beaten path site out at a village on the outskirts of Puerto Plata. Did have some guided tour of traditional coffee, roasting, and other processes, Including some medicinal alcohol, based concoctions that they make. These guides were looking for a tip as were the people in the amber museum in downtown Puerto Plata. That did not come as a total surprise but my wife and I thought if we have to keep going to places where you tip people will need to let the driver know it’s gonna start coming out of the allowance we had set aside for him! We stayed on budget, it was a good roll through the city. The restaurant he took us to wasn’t the street food we had hoped for, but it wasn’t bad either, they did a very nice job with the spiny lobster. This is the right way to tour Puerto Plata from Amber Cove. What could make it better? If we had a more talkative driver that was sharing more about the region. We ended up interviewing him, and he did answer questions, but a little push information would’ve been good. I won’t pretend that we knew all the questions we should’ve asked. If the driver had been able to share more about the area without us prompting that would’ve made this a five star trip. As it stands, it’s a solid four star trip.

We had an amazing day traveling from the countryside, to the city, to the beach! Jesus did an amazing job of showing us around for our first visit. We look forward to coming back and highly recommend this tour!!!

The tour company never showed up, or gave us instructions on how to find them. Eventually they contacted us and said they had been there the whole time, but we had gone to EVERY SINGLE CAR and asked for them. Nope.

Communication with Elian and his family was outstanding prior to arrival at Puerto Plata, making our journey smooth from the getgo. After meeting with Elian,y wife and I (yes, just the 2 of us!) were whisked away in a comfortable vehicle with cold AC and on our way. Elian was great with recommendations on what to see and we quickly left the port area, on our way to the Christ the Redeener statue at the top of the mountain you can see from the cruise port. Throughout our journey, Elian was enthusiastically conversational and very passionate for his home. He narrated interesting areas, explained cultural norms, and provided an insight that would be impossible on a larger tour. After arrival At the mountaintop, Elian was an expert in seeing the best views, hidden gems that other tours can't access, and helping us capture the memories we were looking for. The time spent with him Was truly a joy and we cannot recommend him enough. At the end of our tour, he provided us with a keepsake gift commemorating our time together--again a special touch you only get on a private tour with people who care deeply about sharing their passion for their home. We will happily book with Elian again in the future.

Elian was absolutely phenomenal! Communication pre-meet was great and made it really easy to find him. He took us all throughout the island, culminating at the Christ the Redeemer statue with engaging conversation, interesting historical stories, and a true passion for his home country. Air co digit ed vehicle with just my wife and I and a blank canvas for how to spend the day. If/when we go back to puerto plata, we will absolutely book with Elian and his family again

We had 5 hours to do and see what we wanted. Our driver Joseph organized the day, planned the activities, and made sure we had the best photos. We could not have asked for a better experience.
