We went on an Alaskan Wildlife Waterfall Tour with one other couple in a minivan. We purchased it through Viator and the company was Average Alaskan. Our guide Jody was excellent. She has lived in the Ketchikan area most of her life. We went to Herring Cove where bears are usually found. We did not see one until we went back a second time. We also went to a beach and Rainbow Waterfall. When it rains really hard the water flows across the street and you’re able to see a rainbow in the water. Jody knew where a couple of bear dens were in Herring Cove. There were a few other tourist groups there also. All of a sudden someone was pointing and a cub came out. We were able to get some pictures, it was probably about 100 yards from us. It drizzled the entire day. As they say in Alaska, there is no such thing as bad weather, only unsuitable clothing. It was a great tour and Jody was so accommodating. There were only 4 in our group, so she told us to let her know if we wanted to go back anywhere or to a new place. We did not know the other couple, but we got along great. They were from the same ship we were.
We had a great time with Jodi and were fortunate to have a private tour. Unfortunately we didn’t see any bears but Jodi tried very hard to find them and we did see some eagles and a beautiful waterfall. A very pleasant couple of hours to see and hear about life in Alaska. We really enjoyed it!
We booked this excursion last minute and it turned out to be the highlight of the trip! We loved everything about it - the small size of the group, finding rocks on the beach, stopping to buy smoked salmon from a local stand, and of course seeing bears! Our driver, Pam, was great and you could tell she really loves Ketchikan and getting to show parts of the town to tourists. The snacks, water, and comfort of the van were a bonus as well. We highly recommend this tour!
This was the most fantastic tour. Our driver, Pam, was excellent. She provided a wealth of information about Ketchikan and the people. Speaking from not only the heart, but as a resident. Her knowledge of the are put us on two black bears, two deer, countless eagles and a scenic waterfall. I was concerned about the time of my tour and called. They were graciously able to accommodate me with an earlier time. I simply could not give a higher recommendation for this tour. My sincere thanks and appreciation to the whole operatio n. Helen Pell
Jody was great, it was raining really hard she tried her best. No bears but did see eagles close up and flying around. Jody was willing to do what she needed to do very informative
Great tour. I was not expecting such a close up encounter with 3 bears. Also enjoyed the eagle show, waterfall and creatures on the beach. Caitlyn was knowledgeable and pleasant as well as a good driver. Highly recommend this experience
LOVED everything about this tour! Watching the bald eagles (at least a dozen) dive for the salmon was awesome. Nice waterfall, too, but the highlight was seeing black bears in the wild!! A mama and 2 cubs! A bucket list item checked off for me! Can’t say enough good things about our tour guide/owner! Went out of her way to track down the bears. Definitely use this company!!
This was an amazing experience. Pam was awesome. She was knowledgeable, friendly, and very professional. She wanted to be sure we saw the BEST of her city and we did! This tour did not disappoint. Thanks so much.
This tour was so wonderful! Our family very much enjoyed this tour with Pam. She was so sweet and so kind. Very patient. We went on a bear hunt and found a mama bear and two cubs. Definitely the highlight of our Alaskan trip! Thanks Pam!
It’s low key in a comfortable outdoor setting. The meal was delicious and there was no waiting around for it once we arrived. Our bus driver gave us information about the area on the way.
