This was a fabulous trip to Murano and Burano, we had Gianluca as our guide and he was knowledgeable about both islands. We saw a glass maker create a turtle and watch the steps involved in glassmaking. Then we went to burano for a wonderful lunch at a small out of the way restaurant that was delicious! Wonderful afternoon on both islands highly recommend GianLuca!
Motor boat was clean and comfortable and our guide was lovely - knew a great deal about Venice, its buildings and history,
Selena is what made this tour exceptional. As a Venetian, she shared fascinating local history and insights that made every stop more meaningful. She was warm, organized, and engaging, and truly elevated the entire experience. We also had a delicious lunch in Burano at Trexento Pasta, which was one of the highlights of the day. The only downside was the Murano glass showroom. It felt very sales-focused, and many of the pieces were extremely expensive. We later discovered on our own that not everything in the store was made in-house in Murano, and no one mentioned that during our visit. Aside from that, it was an excellent tour that we would definitely recommend, especially with Selena as your guide.
Overall the factory demo was amazing. A little pressure to buy but I was planning on it. Some items are not made there. Be sure to ask if you like something that it is something made at their factory. They were willing to make deals for shipping goods for you. I was a little upset when I saw the exact set I purchased there in Venice for 1/3 the price. I couldn’t tell the difference but I know there are fakes out there. I wanted unique and after seeing it elsewhere I felt very common. I can only hope that the factory is telling the truth that all items for sale are made there. I read elsewhere that all shops sell goods manufactured by other factories also. I would hope they would represent that clearly. Overall the tour was lovely but count the buying process for a good portion of it. The Colleoni master artists were spectacular and all of the people were very helpful. Our tour guide could have volunteered more information on the rest of the tour. They did do Burano also which was quite beautiful but we did not get lace making demonstrations or brought to where the cookies are made.
We had an amazing time with our guide visiting the island of Murano and Burano. Saw a glass making experience and then had a great lunch in burano. Rachel our guide was the best!
Definitely request Eleonora for your tour guide! She was amazing! My husband and I did a private tour with Eleonora. She met us at our hotel lobby and we departed in a private water taxi. She was sooooo informative about Venice as well as the surrounding islands. We learned so much and were so grateful for all of the information. Our private tour of a glass factory was captivating, despite being quite hot (heat wave in June). Burano was beautiful too. It was nice to have a private water taxi take us around for the tour. We highly recommend doing this tour, especially with Eleonora, as you will learn way more about Venice and the islands versus doing any other type of tour while in Venice!
Fantastic island hopping trip! Our guide, Giulia, was so friendly and welcoming. She was constantly telling us about her home town. Brava Giulia!
Giovanni was an amazing guide! I could not recommend him more. He was funny, engaging, and knowledgeable. My kids, who don't usually like tour guides, also loved him. There is always pressure from the glass making factory to buy something, but never any pressure from the guide. If you want to buy something, the quality is outstanding. If not, it is fine to decline.
Clementina was awesome! She was professional, funny, and knowledgeable. At every stop she relayed the history in detail making us feel connected to the wonderful sites in Venice. She knew the best places to get sweets, treats, and delicious wine! A MUST for anyone traveling through Venice without a lot of time.
This tour was a great way to see the lesser known side of Venice. It was great to have a private boat tour of some really cool locations. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. The locations visited are based on how much time you spend in each location (the longer you spend in one, the less time or no time in others). The guide takes you to stores where he has friends, and there is an expectation that you purchase items from each location. We did this at some, but not all of them. Overall, we enjoyed the tour and would do it again! It was very convenient to be picked up and dropped off at our hotel. The guide was very responsive and accommodating throughout the experience. If you purchase big ticket items, be sure to get the VAT refund at the airport BEFORE you leave Italy.
