Itinerario

We had a great experience on this tour. Lukas was a very professional driver that we were able to chat with back and forth to Salzburg. This was not a guided tour, but we loved the freedom of our own schedule and to focus on what was more meaningful to us.
Fun walking tour that hits some of the places the Sound of Music was filmed. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for inclement weather.
Thank you, Melanie, for your lovely review. We’re glad you enjoyed the Sound of Music walking tour and the chance to visit several memorable filming locations. Your practical tips about comfortable shoes and changing weather are very helpful for future travelers. We hope to welcome you on another Europe Journey experience again soon.
Dominik great driver. Although Dominik planned out a walking tour of Salizburg and the Sound of music tour, he couldn't walk us through the old village of Salizburg. We understood because of Austrian tour guide must be licensed. We understood that from the tour operator before we left on holiday. We, before we left, downloaded The Rick Steves Audio walking tour of Salzburg & used that. Dominik was able to take us to other areas of Salizburg & he was extremely accommodating & polite. We are pleased.
Hi, Michael. Thank you for your thoughtful review. We’re glad Dominik was accommodating, polite, and able to help you enjoy Salzburg within the local guiding regulations. We’re pleased to hear you had a great experience.
Enjoyed a safe day trip transport from Munich to Salzburg and return to Munich. Beautiful sights along the highway and Salzburg is stunning. However, this trip should be advertised as a day trip to Salzburg. The Sound of Music highlights were very challenging. The first stop was the park area where the song do re mi ended. Our driver dropped us off to explore the area. The park is beautiful and we were able to discover several of the areas from the movie. We were picked up by our driver and next dropped off by old town Salzburg. We were told to explore and have lunch. After being picked up we were brought to the river area where Maria and the children fell out of the boat. At that point we were told the Von Trapp home is not an option to see since it's private property. We were then told the convent and concert location (from the end of the movie) are near old town where we had lunch. Asked the driver to return us to the area again to locate these two sights. We were dropped off, given some general directions and had to locate both on our own. It was very difficult. If we didn't have a phone with GPS it would have been impossible. The convent is up a very steep hill, which we did locate. The concert area was closed to the public. We were not expecting to be dropped off in areas and find locations on our own. The people of Salzburg were very friendly and the only way we found certain things was because of their help. I'm overlooking several major things with this review and feel giving 3 stars is being very generous considering the cost of this tour.
Dear customer, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the safe transport, the scenery along the way, and the beauty of Salzburg. We are sorry that the Sound of Music part of the day did not meet your expectations. We would like to clarify that this experience is a private day trip/transport service with sightseeing stops, not a fully guided walking tour with a licensed Salzburg guide. Our driver’s role is to provide safe transportation, practical orientation, and agreed stops, but not to personally escort guests through each location on foot. Some Sound of Music locations are spread across Salzburg and require walking, and certain places may be private property or closed to the public on the day of travel. These access limitations are unfortunately outside the driver’s control. The driver did his best to bring you as close as possible to the relevant areas, provide directions, and adapt by returning you to the Old Town area when requested. That said, we understand your point that the product wording may have created stronger expectations of a guided Sound of Music experience. We will review the description to make sure it is clearer that this is primarily a private day trip to Salzburg with Sound of Music-related stops, rather than an escorted film-location tour. Thank you again for your feedback. We appreciate your comments.
Took advantage of the day trip to Salzburg for Sound of Music tour. Enjoyed the safe and scenic private drive from Munich to Salzburg and return. Salzburg is stunning and fully enjoyed walking through the old town main square area. However, this trip should not be advertised as a Sound of Music private tour. Most of the locations need to be walked and with no vehicle acccess. Our first stop was great, viewing the park and steps from do re mi. At the next stop we were dropped off and told to explore old town, not knowing both the convent and concert theatre were located near by. It was necessary to stop again at the end of the trip to find both, it was not easy. The theatre concert area is closed to the public. The convent is up a steep hill and not easy to find. Also. The Von Trapp home from filming is closed to the public. I feel we were fully left on our own to find the sights. Lucky we have a phone, GPS access and the weather was great with friendly Salzburg people who guide as needed. So, we made the best of it. This trip should be advertised ONLY as a day trip to Salzburg. Also, the driver should have at least minimal skills of the area and the tour. On each stop we were left completely alone with little guidance. For the $$$ you are paying this trip definitely fell a bit short. I feel I'm being quite generous and overlooking several issues.
Dear customer, Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed the safe and scenic private drive from Munich to Salzburg, and that you found Salzburg itself stunning. We’re sorry, however, that the Sound of Music part of the experience did not fully meet your expectations. We would like to clarify that this service is a private sightseeing day trip with an English-speaking driver, not a guided walking tour with a licensed local guide. In Salzburg, several Sound of Music filming locations are located in pedestrian areas, on hills, or in places with limited/no vehicle access. Some locations, such as certain theatre areas or private filming sites, may also be closed to the public, which is unfortunately outside the driver’s or company’s control. That said, we understand your point that clearer orientation at each stop would have made the visit easier and more enjoyable. Our driver’s role is not to guide guests through the sites, but we agree that basic directions and practical information should be provided wherever possible. We will review this with our team and also look again at how this experience is described, so expectations are clear for future travelers. We appreciate that you still made the best of the day and acknowledged the safe drive, beautiful scenery, and Salzburg experience. Thank you again for your feedback.

From the very start, our driver Tomas was welcoming and patient. Breakfast at our hotel was a little busier than we expected and he waited for us to finish, and then began our tour. The vehicle was clean and comfortable, and Tomas was a good driver, making us feel safe and confident traveling with him. Our drive included wonderful and informative conversation -- we felt we made a friend by the end of the day! He took several photos for us and was accommodating to our sightseeing requests. He even bought us some famous Mozart chocolates to enjoy! The sights in Salzburg were beautiful, but Tomas made our day that much more memorable. Vielen dank!
