Hugo was great , the trip was exactly as he said it would be . We very much would recommend him
We had such a great experience with Hugo touring Sintra and Cascais that we jumped at a last-minute opening in his schedule for the Private Full-Day Tour to Évora from Lisbon. Glad we did. The cork factory was fascinating from start to finish. Watching raw bark transform into finished product gave us a genuine appreciation for how much skill and tradition goes into an industry most visitors never think twice about. We left with a new perspective on Portugal, and yes, a few cork souvenirs. The Cathedral of Évora is impressive on its own, but get yourself up to the rooftop. The views over the city and the countryside stretching out beyond make it one of the best vantage points of the entire trip. The Chapel of Bones is hauntingly beautiful and unlike anything we'd seen before. The intricate arrangement of remains forces a kind of stillness. It's not unsettling so much as it is deeply human, and it stays with you long after you leave. The food was the perfect cap to the day. The local black pork cheek was one of the best things we ate in Portugal. It's simple, perfectly prepared, and completely authentic to the region. Hugo is knowledgeable, flexible, funny, and genuinely great company. If he has availability, book any of his tours without hesitation.
I did the tour of Évora and Monsaraz! We went to visit the cork factory in which I highly recommend, the Hugo who was our guide was very helpful and always did what we were asking.
Wanting to do something very special for our Aniversário de Casamento (wedding anniversary), we booked our 2nd Portugal tour with our guide and friend, Hugo Romano. Hugo, with his bright and joyful smile, picked us up in front of our hotel in Lisboa. We then traveled to a cork factory in Azaruja, the Corticarte-Arte em Cortica, a family-run business that offers free tours on cork production from harvest to its many final products. We next toured the Cathedral of Évora (Sé Catedral de Évora) which included a steep and narrow climb up the spiral steps of the bell tower with its stunning views, cloister, museum of religious treasures, and the beautiful cathedral itself. Our next stop was the Bones Chapel (Capela dos Ossos) in Évora. The bones, exhumed from the town’s cemetery, have been transformed into a stunning work of art covering the walls and ceiling of the chapel. Upstairs, the chapel houses a display of dozens of nativity scenes that should not be missed. We finished our day trip at the Castle of Monsaraz (Castelo de Monsaraz). The castle offered a panoramic view of the nearby Spanish border, which defines the castle’s historically strategic location. As always, Hugo provided us in his unique and often humorous accounts of each location’s significance within Portugal’s history. His recommendations of significant sites, historical knowledge, and advice on food and dining made our day. We could not have been more pleased with Hugo Romano’s service and highly recommend using him for his expertise for your own tours in areas surrounding Lisboa.
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Hugo to Evora and Monsaraz. He was a great communicator right from the start, offering us customisations and choices of alternate stops if we wanted via text. He also added a bonus stop to the Cork Factory which was fascinating and a surprise highlight of the day. Evora is a must visit city in Portugal and seeing it on a private tour with Hugo was the perfect way to go.
The trip was very interesting, above expectations and quite profitable! The city of Evora is very nice! I recommend it to other people.
We had a great itinerary with Hugo. He was very informative, helpful and understood our dietary requirements. He went above and beyond to make sure we had a good time. We recommend him for any tours in Portugal.
Hugo arrived at our hotel early and was ready for our day. He offered us some options to customize our tour. We chose a cork factory, evora and a wine tasting in a castle. Great day. We stopped for lunch and he helped us order He provided bottles of water. He explained what we we going to see and answered any questions we had. He speaks excellent English. I would highly recommend him to you. If we come back we will call him.
Great day with Hugo. He was on time. Excellent communication and gave us some options. We chose a cork factory, evora, and a wine tasting. Awesome day. Hugo was very knowledgeable and very friendly. We would highly recommend him.
We (2 adults/and two 12yo) went with Hugo for a private tour to Évora, bone chapel and a few churches and the cork factory. He was patient with my kids. He even had an iPad attached to one of the seats so they could watch videos. His car has WiFi and he provided us with water bottles. He was very understanding with a medical issue for my son. He was flexible chatting with my husband in the front seat while I promptly fell asleep sitting up in the back :). He gave us information on the sites, we caught the tour at the cork factory and he always took the opportunity to take a family pics for us at picturesque moments. He was a safe driver. He took us to a restaurant forcing and told us what local delicacies to order. He was clearly known and well liked by the staff but it didn’t feel like he was taking us there for his benefit - it was truly a place and taste for us to learn and share. He was fine with comfortable silence when we were tired but kept up cordial conversation for chit chat too. He offered to help us with anything while we were in Lisbon. Highly recommend, would use again, and he had very reasonable prices!
