Los kazakos comparan el cañón Charyn con el Gran Cañón en los Estados Unidos. Y aunque el cañón Charyn es más pequeño en tamaño que el Gran Cañón, pero no es inferior por su belleza y grandiosidad, los aficionados al senderismo y la vida silvestre de todo el mundo vienen aquí. El cañón de Charyn se encuentra a 200 kilómetros de Almaty, cerca de la frontera con China, en el territorio del Parque Natural Nacional de Charyn. El cañón se extiende por 154 kilómetros a lo largo del río Charyn y está formado por rocas sedimentarias que tienen 12 millones de años.

Itinerario
El cañón Charyn se extiende 154 km a lo largo del río Charyn (uno de los ríos más profundos de las montañas Tien Shan del Norte). El viento, el agua y la arena esculpieron la arenisca roja de Charyn para formar sus formas y tonalidades. Algunos de los acantilados se asemejan a figuras particulares, por lo que algunas partes del cañón también se llaman el "Valle de los Castillos", el Desfiladero de las Brujas y el Desfiladero de los Fantasmas. Itinerario 09:00 – Salida de Almaty (3,5 horas en coche, ~200 km). 12 : 30 – Llegada al Cañón Charyn, caminando por el Valle de los Castillos hasta el río. 13:30 – Almuerzo de picnic junto al río. 14 : 30 – Tiempo libre : explorar, fotos, caminatas cortas opcionales. 16:00 – Regreso caminando al punto de estacionamiento. 16:30 – Salida hacia Almaty. 20:00-20:30 – Llegada a Almaty.

We had 4 day private tour which included a trip to charyon canyon as well as kolsai lake.. from the day we landed from uae to Almaty..ilyas our guide has been fabulous...he was punctual , courteous ,knowledgeable and was great ambassador of his country..Skyway must be proud of having an employee like him...and he must be rewarded for the same... Lastly. I will always recommend people to visit Almaty as it was an out of the world.. experience ..thanks mainly to Ilyas..
Visiting Charyn Canyon with friends was an unforgettable experience! The views are absolutely breathtaking like a mini Grand Canyon in Kazakhstan. With our best tour guide, Adil, we had a great time exploring, hiking, and taking photos. He made the trip even more enjoyable with his knowledge and friendliness. Highly recommend visiting Charyn Canyon, and if you can, go with Adil he’ll make the adventure even better!
First n foremost our Driver cum guide was the best person.His name was Miras.Very courteous n .helpful.His English was fluent n he showed us all the places.Scenery n weather was good.Will recommend a visit to Almaty to all.

Our Kazakhstan was amazing, the tour was well arranged and the tour guide Nazerke was so great and helpful, she also gave us a lot of information about the places we visited and about the country. We went to Shumbulak ski resort ,Charyn Canyon, Kolsay lake and the alma arslan gorge the tour was amazing! Our driver Sergie was also nice
