Ubicado en la cima del Monte da Pena, fue fruto de la imaginación del Rey D. Fernando después de enamorarse de Sintra. Rodeado de exuberantes jardines con más de quinientas especies diferentes de árboles procedentes de los cuatro rincones de la tierra, es la mayor expresión del romanticismo del siglo XIX en Portugal.
Ubicado en el centro del pueblo de Sintra, fue uno de los lugares preferidos por los reyes y reinas portugueses en las primeras dinastías de la nación.
El sueño de un hombre que se hizo realidad, este palacio del siglo XIX cuenta con impresionantes decoraciones cargadas de referencias masónicas y con lujosos jardines, fuentes y lagos.
Saliendo de Sintra y de camino a Cascais, llegamos al punto más occidental del continente europeo, en un acantilado de 140 m de altura y con el faro que sigue siendo un punto importante para la navegación.
Al llegar a Cascais, está Hell's Mouth, un abismo natural o cueva que se formó por el golpeteo repetido de las olas contra los acantilados y las aguas entran y salen, pero es en los meses de invierno que Boca do Inferno realmente revela su furia infernal. . Las olas pueden llegar hasta los acantilados, o más, durante el mal tiempo. El resultado es un excelente ejemplo de la fuerza de la naturaleza, que es a la vez aterradora y fascinante.

My wife and I took 2 day tour— Sintra and Cascais one day and Lisbon city next. Luis is very knowledgeable and very easy to communicate with. He understood our preferences and limitations and modified the itinerary accordingly. Made sure he could drop and pick us up as close to attractions as possible. He made extra effort on his free time to arrange another agent to provide a tour we wanted. He was unable to provide due to his earlier commitments. Based on my search online his charges were lower than many.

Luis was a wonderful driver and guide for the 12 of us visiting Sintra, and Cascais. He walked through the palaces with us explaining the rich history, and so knowledgeable about the whole area and the way of life in Portugal. We had some great conversations with him and he took us to a wonderful spot overlooking the Atlantic oven for lunch. I wish we had booked him for all of Portugal and not just one portion of it.

An amazing tour and operator. Don't think twice about this tour! We loved every moment and had a wonderful time with our tour guide. The operator ensures the best tour guides in the business. Our guide was professional, calm, fluent in English, and knowledgeable. We didn't feel rushed at all, and we were given the opportunity to customize or focus on our interests rather than adhere to a strict schedule. The car was super clean, roomy and comfortable for the day tour. I highly recommend this tour with this operator which made us love Portugal even more.
