While the meeting spot left us wondering if we had the location, the young man who was our driver was top notch. Manlio was very professional, friendly and accommodating. Though not a formal tour, Manlio was very well-educated and knowledgeable about the region and happy to answer our questions. We enjoyed speaking with him very much and he is more than an asset to his agency. Grazie, Manlio!
Our driver, Manlio, gave us lots of information about both cities during our drive and also some general information about Sicily and Palermo. He was friendly and accommodating and made it easy to focus on the beautiful cathedral and surrounding area in Monreale and the very picturesque town of Cerfalu. He picked us up near our accommodations and dropped us off without any issues. If we had not already booked other transportation, we would have definitely used him for other tours. The cathedral is absolutely stunning and a must see!
Our driver picked us up at our apartment and was on time. He was pleasant and courteous, but one thing you need to know is that he was merely a driver, not to diminish that role, he was an excellent driver. However, this was not a “Private Guided Tour” because the driver did not speak English, and he never left his car. We were on our own to explore Monreale and Cefalu. Cefalu might have been one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to and I know there was much history which might have been shared if this was indeed a “Private Guided Tour”!
Just to be clear … this is NOT a private guided tour. This is a driver in a very nice car to take you between locations. We should have read the fine print more carefully. If you want a guide you need to arrange one yourself. Despite our disappointment, we decided to leave Monreale and go to the beach at Cefalu anyway as we had paid quite a bit of money for the ‘tour’. Guiseppue, the driver, was very accommodating but did not speak any English so we had to use Google translate a lot. I cannot recommend this as a guided tour as it is NOT one, hence my two star rating. Despite this we had a nice afternoon at the beach and Guiseppue was great.
Although the driver, Giuseppe was a nice person, his English was very limited. Therefore I had to translate what he was saying for my wife. Unfortunately I think it was overpriced.
This was a fantastic experience. I was skeptical to book because there are so few reviews. Have no fear, our driver David was wonderful. We started by heading to Monreale, only to find that the cathedral doesn’t open until two pm on Sundays. Not to worry, we headed to Cefalu, where we spent 3 hours touring the cathedral, having an awesome lunch at a spot David recommended, then going for a swim. We then headed back to Moneeale to see the cathedral and grab a gelato. Well worth the money. So glad we opted for this tour instead of a bus.
