Awesome tour with a very knowledgeable guide. Our tour was crowded, but that didn’t make a difference. All seats on top of the boat were great.
There are a number of river architecture tours. We went with this one based on tour availability. What a treat this turned out to be! Easy location for boarding, very well-organized; all the staff was fantastic. We arrived early for our 2:45 pm departure, and the gladly accommodated us on the earlier boat, no problem. Bar and other drinks available. Our guide Sarah was fantastic! The ONE (-) on the tour was a very LOUD and inconsiderate group behind us, talking amongst themselves over the volume of our guide. SMH. Sarah handled it well. All-in-all, a very good experience!
Great that the narrator really knew the history, the AC in the lower deck with refreshments was right on time. A very pleasant experience for me and my guest from Brazil.
Take weekdays if you can. Pick time earlier in the morning or later in the afternoon. Book for 90 minutes if you have time and can afford it (less ppl on board). Arrive 30 minutes prior to get to the head of the line so you have plenty of time to decide where you and others want to sit :) (you’ll be in the shade in the afternoon at the boarding area.) The ride is smooth and the guide is knowledgeable and does a good job keeping the audience involved, but at times I felt there was just, in a good way, too much information:). FYI. I take I-55 to Naperville/Plainfield and driving out of the city at around 6pm saves 30 minutes or more than at 4pm. Just saying.
Our hostess - Sarah - was the best. Extremely informative and fun. Don’t miss out on this trip it was wonderful.
We've just returned from the 7-90 min tour on a rainy, cold June, 2026 evening. Due to the weather most patrons were inside the vessel with seemingly no interest in the excursion. They spoke loudly overwhelming the speaker/public address system. Maybe I'll try again, in better weather.
The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining. Great energy and enthusiasm for her job. There was a risk of rain and she made the best of the experience. Excellent tour.
It was an excellent tour of the entire river from Michigan Ave to Lake Michigan. Our guide was excellent, providing detailed information about the buildings and their architecture, plus a great deal of general Chicago history. His description of neighborhoods and the culture and cuisine within them was also excellent. A great river tour!
Such a fun adventure!! Our tour guide Jack did a fantastic job!! The sun peeked out a couple times, which made it a little warm-but we knew we could go inside to the air con if needed!!
Well organized. Tour guide was entertaining and informative. We did the tour mid-day but would be nice to do in the evening as well.
