Itinerario
Iniciamos el recorrido en el Parque Colón, principal lugar o plaza de esparcimiento de la Ciudad Colonial rodeado de importantes monumentos como la Catedral Primada de America, El primer Ayuntamiento de Santo Domingo, La Calle el Conde, Famosos Restaurantes, tiendas, entre otros. En el parque se encuentra una estatua de Cristobal Colon erigida por el escultor francés Ernesto Gilbert en el año 1887.
Es una catedral y basílica menor dedicada a Santa María de la Encarnación que se encuentra en la Ciudad Colonial de Santo Domingo, en República Dominicana. Su nombre oficial es Santa Iglesia Catedral Basílica Metropolitana de Nuestra Señora Santa María de la Encarnación o Anunciación. Está ubicada entre las calles Arzobispo Meriño e Isabela La Católica, junto al Parque Colón; quedando su puerta principal al oeste, frente a la calle Arzobispo Meriño, casi esquina Arzobispo Nouel. La catedral de Santo Domingo es la más antigua de América, construida por mandato del papa Julio II en 1504. Sede de la Arquidiócesis de Santo Domingo, su construcción comenzó en 1512, bajo el gobierno pastoral del primer obispo de Santo Domingo,
Es un mausoleo donde se conservan los restos de personajes destacados de la historia de la República Dominicana. El Panteón Nacional tiene alrededor de 36 espacios vacíos para albergar a futuros próceres. También existe un espacio vacío sin placa, dedicada al soldado desconocido. Hay una guardia de Honor permanente, compuesta por efectivos de la guardia presidencial, vestidos de gala, sin mover ni un solo músculo. Uno de ellos hace un paseo solemne de ronda en el pasillo central, que va desde la entrada principal hasta justo al frente del altar mayor. En el panteón, conjuntamente con la bandera dominicana se exhiben las banderas de la Fuerza Aérea, de la Armada y del Ejército de República Dominicana.
El Museo de las Casas Reales o Palacios Reales, como era llamado durante la época de la capitanía general y la provincia, tenía como sede dos palacios, los cuales datan del siglo XVI. Este palacio real se construyó por órdenes de la Corona de Castilla, en el reinado de Fernando II de Aragón, el 5 de octubre de 1511, con la finalidad de alojar a las principales oficinas gubernamentales de la época. Este fue llamado como Edificio de las Casas Reales, ya que en él se encontraba la Real Audiencia, la cual fue el primer tribunal del Nuevo Mundo, también era utilizado como Residencia de los Gobernadores y Generales Capitanes de la época, a este segundo se le llamaba Capitanía General. Este edificio sirvió como morada de personas como Bartolomé Colón, Louis Ferrand, entre otros. En los salones de la Real Audiencia se celebraban importantes reuniones o fiestas compuestas por las principales figuras de la sociedad de la época así como los oficiales reales y los jueces de apelación.
El Alcázar de Colón fue construido entre 1511 y 1514, siguiendo las influencias del existente en Mancera de Abajo, en Salamanca (España), del que aún se conservan ruinas. Se desconoce el nombre del arquitecto que llevó a cabo la edificación de este palacio fortificado. De estilo gótico mudéjar mayormente, el Alcázar tiene también algunas características renacentistas, notable en sus arcadas, así como del estilo isabelino observables en las borlas que lo adornan. El edificio se construyó utilizando mampostería de rocas coralinas. Originalmente la residencia tenía 55 habitaciones, de las cuales se conservan sólo 22.
Es un monumento en forma de cruz (recordando la cristianización de las Américas) que mide aproximadamente 800 metros de largo por 36,5 metros de alto.1 En él, se dice, que se albergan los restos del almirante Cristóbal Colón, hecho que se ha demostrado falso debido a la confirmación mediante análisis genéticos de los mencionados restos se encuentran en la Catedral de Sevilla.2 Cuando el faro está encendido, proyecta una luz en forma de cruz hacia el cielo nocturno. Dicha luz puede verse a aproximadamente 64 kilómetros de distancia, pero causa problemas con el suministro de electricidad de los barrios aledaños. Es la razón por la cual solo se enciende en ocasiones especiales.
En este parque nacional encontraremos uno de los secretos naturales mejores guardados de la ciudad,sus cuatro lagos son: - Lago Azufre: Este es el primer lago que alcanzamos a ver desde que entramos. Su nombre se debe a que en su fondo se puede notar una sustancia blanquecida y por ende las personas que concurrían a este lugar pensaban que ésta era azufre. - La Nevera: Es el tercer lago que alcanzamos a ver, su nombre se debe a las bajas temperaturas que alcanza ya que nunca recibe la luz solar. Su temperatura oscila entre los 15°C y 21°C. - El Lago de las Damas: Es el segundo lago que llegamos a ver, su nombre se debe a que antes se usaba como balneario y por su ubicación tan discreta y por ser poco profundo, fue reservado para las mujeres. Tiene 2.5 metros de profundidad en su parte más profunda. Los Zaramagullones: Este es el cuarto lago, su nombre se debe a una especie de patos anfibios que son autóctonos de la zona. Cuenta con una vegetación natural que rodea el lago.

It went by so smooth. Our tour guide was super knowledgeable he gave us so much history of Dominican Republic, in a fun way kids love the 'quizzes' definitely worth the trip.
It was a nice tour, friendly guide with good sense of humor and a comfortable ride. But it's too ambitious in terms of where they take you in the four hours you have available. It would make more sense to do two separate tours. One for Tres Ojos and Faro a Colón and another for the Santo Domingo old town.
My friend and I enjoyed this experience. Our guide NELSON was accommodating, informative, helpful, caring, and a great person. I would say add an extra hour of wiggle room to your itinerary. We’re on island time and it’s important to not pack your day with other events because you don’t want to feel rushed on the tour. Take time to explore, shop and taste the local fresh coconuts and other fruits.
I had the most absolutely best time. My driver was friendly and courteous, and the tour guide was amazing and very, very knowledgeable.!
Rodolpho(Adolpho) my guide and Abraham(driver) was very great and knowledgable about the tour sites, DR culture, and history. The cathedral and pantheon were my favorites in colon. The many DR flags, caskets, and guards in uniform look cool. Cathedral is a beautiful architectural gem. Thanks for the tour. I learned more about the Dominican Republic history, wars, freedom, independence, and their culture.

They were an hr late picking us up after numerous text messages and phone calls. Our guide Angel was very nice and knowledgeable. The included lunch was ok. Learned alot about the history of the island but it was obviously very hot and after awhile we were ready to go. Would I recommend it to someone else, not if they have children younger than 13. Would I do it again, no.

We felt that we had missed a lot of what the web site said we would get We did not visit the Parque Colon We did not go into the Casas Reales museum Our guide tried to persuade us not to descend into the Three Eyes cave Our guide was more interested in meeting friends and talking on the phone than guiding us. He did not ask us what our interests were ,or even our names He was no help in getting us into position for the best photographs The included lunch was poor fare in a back street restaurant
This was an amazing excursion! My guide had so much information to share and even recommended different sites to see, as well as restaurants and bars. I learned a lot and enjoyed the experience.
The tour started with a pickup inside the cruise pier gate, right in front of the terminal exit. Driver Alex did a fantastic job of navigating the crazy traffic. Guide Armundo knew all about the history of the country and each site, and made sure we knew it (by asking questions about what he told us)! During the downtown walking portion we stopped at some extra sights that were not on the agenda. At the end we had an EXCELLENT lunch at a nice Italian restaurant (which was not advertised clearly in the description). The tour ran a couple hours longer than planned, but this was a good deal for us, as still returned well within our ship's boarding time. For me, the highlight was the underground Caves/Lakes (called 3 Eyes Park).
This tour was scheduled to begin at 9am. At 9:05am, I messaged the company and was told that the driver was going to get to me at 10am. At 10am, they messaged me saying that the new pickup was going to be 10:20am because of traffic. I messaged them at 11:15am with no response. I called Viator and they tried getting in touch with them with no answer. I requested a refund from Viator and 15mims later, I get a call from the operator telling me that they are 10mins away. I told them I waited over 2 hours for a 4 hour tour and it took them 30mins to respond to my request for an update. The operator gets upset and starts screaming at me in Spanish and then goes tour or not? Who wants to go on a tour with someone who treats paying customers that way. I had one day left and it was too late to book another activity. At this point I hope Viator honors my request for a refund.
