Our guide’s English was excellent. He was very knowledgable of the places we visited. His driving was excellent and we felt very safe. The wine tasting at the Monastery was superb and delivered by a very knowledgeable man who shared his knowledge with us, describing how each wine was made. All of the wines were lovely and we purchased a bottle from the gift shop. The old town of Trebinje was idyllic and charming. We enjoyed a traditional Bosnian meal at a local tavern. The whole trip was remarkable. An easy 10/10!!!
We were on a Gate 1 organized tour and booked this side trip on our free afternoon. It was easy, relaxing and flawless from beginning to end. Bojan picked us up on time, got us to/from the border with no problem, knew his way around, and took us to delicious local places for lunch and dessert. The monestary was worth it to see the mummified hand of St Helen (Jelena) and the beautiful grounds. It was a nice respite from touring with 40 others and having to wear "whispers" to hear the guide.
Took this trip when visiting Dubrovnik on a cruise ship. Booked a few days before sailing over the phone, paid in full a couple of days prior to embarkation and immediately received e-tickets. The driver / guide (Bojan) WhatsApp’ed me the morning of the trip with clear instructions where to meet plus a pic of the minivan. All very straightforward. We really enjoyed the excursion; it exceeded our expectations. Bojan was a very capable and knowledgeable guide and made the whole day run smoothly. His English was impeccable. The stops were all delightful; crossing the Croatia / Herzegovina border simple with Bojan sorting out the security and customs processes for us; and the van was very comfortable, just for the two of us it transpired. Highlights (for us): the visit to the Monastery / Winery for a tour and tasting; touring the old town of Trebinje and enjoying a coffee in the Square; and seeing the beautiful Arslanagiča bridge, every bit as fine as the one in Mostar we imagine - and far older! In addition, Bojan took a stack of photos as we went from place to place - both of us and of the attractions - then sent them over on WhatsApp for us, some eighty or so pics. Very kind. Many of our fellow passengers - along with those from two other cruise ships - descended on Dubrovnik old town and it was reportedly obscenely crowded; you could hardly move. In Trebinje, I think we were the only foreign tourists. No comparison. Probably the best day of the cruise; very highly recommended if you are looking for a private, small group (or potentially sole) excursion that’s a bit different. Bosnia-Herzegovina: not on many people’s ‘visited’ list!
A small minivan came to pick us up at our hotel and the guide drove us to the Bosnia-Herzegovina border, handing our passports to the border guards for us. He took us to a monastery with a winery, churches, a mosque, and the towns square. We had dinner in a lovely restaurant, which was included in the price. This is a convenient and informative tour for folks who want to fit in another country and cultural experience. It was only 3 of us but the van looks like it could hold a few more people—a small premium tour with a personal touch.
Tomi was a great guide and we very much enjoyed our evening in Trebinje! We felt that we were able to learn a lot about the culture and history of the area, while enjoying local wines and cuisine.
Nice half-day visit was enough to see a glimpse of BH and the main historical spots in Trebinje. Also tasted some lovely wines and had a nice lunch.
We really loved our trip to Trebinje with Marco. The monastery is really quiet and pretty and the wine is excellent. Local restaurant has the most delicious food. So many sorts of fish, meat, potatoes and salad and great local wine. We were dining in cute garden with super authentic atmosphere. The whole day was super amazing and we really enjoyed our time with our small group and great guide. Marco knows all the best places in the area and he was also telling us lot about history and culture of the country. We can warmly recommend this tour.
Was not told in the description of the trip when we decided to book it that we would have to have passports. He was late at the port and didn’t ask if we had our passports when we started. We got to a check point and the guard would not take our copy of our passport nor would he take the photo of them that everyone else was OK with using. So we went back to the ship to get our passports and by then it was late and we cancelled the tour. Should have been told that passports would be required on this tour before the tour and/or before getting in the car. All in all not a good experience
Sir Leonard what you wrote here is a lie in description of the trip is written that you will visit another country so you need proper passport not copy of them so it was your mistake not mine and driver was waiting you in front of your cruise 30 minutes and he call you but you didn't answer the call, you should told him that you will not return. You had enought time to take a tour when he return you at you cruise that you go in your room to take your passports.
A very memorable trip to Trebinje as recommended by my neighbour. Our guide was amazing, very friendly and made sure we saw the parts we wanted to see and ate and drank all we wanted/could! It was lovely to sit and eat with the guide and listen to his stories of his home and the places we were visiting, he was very knowledgable. 100% recommend his tours.
This was a wonderful tour! Our guide was exceptional and made the whole experience so memorable! The wine testing was also quite the experience. It wasn't a big tourist trap of a large winery - it was very intimate and personable - seeing how a family makes their wine. And the restaurant was superb! The food amazing! Definately a tour that is completely worthwhile!
