If you’re thinking about booking this kayaking tour, do not hesitate—just do it! It was easily one of the absolute highlights of our trip. From start to finish, the entire operation was smooth, welcoming, and seamless. Our guides were incredible—super knowledgeable, friendly, and prioritizing everyone’s safety while keeping the vibe relaxed and fun. Paddling out on the water was so peaceful, and the views were breathtaking. Whether you're a total beginner or an experienced paddler, they make sure you feel completely comfortable and supported the whole time. Huge thanks to the whole team for such a memorable adventure. We’ll definitely be recommending this tour to all of our friends and family!
Thank you so much for this amazing review, Yesi! We’re thrilled to hear that the Bio Bay Kayak Tour was one of the highlights of your trip and that the experience felt smooth, welcoming, and enjoyable from beginning to end. Our team works hard to create a safe, relaxed, and memorable adventure for every guest, so your kind words about the guides mean a lot to us. We truly appreciate your recommendation and would be delighted to welcome you back for another unforgettable experience in Puerto Rico!
Anseli, Gio, Francisco, and Ema (sorry if I got any of the names wrong or misspelled) were all great and provided such a lovely tour. The water is warm which was nice for a night time kayak so we didn’t get cold. The views of the trees, stars, and bay at dusk and night was gorgeous. Sadly, the rotting sea grass and light pollution that inhabits this bay is affecting the sensitive environment of the planktons that glow, so we didn’t get to see any bioluminescence. But the information and experience in my opinion was still worth it. I only wish all the kayak companies worked together to create a shared changing room so the people who need to use the restrooms don’t have to wait for the people changing clothes taking up the stalls.
Not the best experience. Could be better
We went in a night when there was a light rain and the crew was great at engaging the group and helping us succeed. Even though the plankton weren’t playing along and we weren’t able to see the bioluminescence, we had a good time. If you are afraid of the dark, don’t want to get wet, or have a bad back, you might not enjoy this experience.
Came with my husband and 2 girls ages 10 to 13. We received an email stating the chances of seeing the bioluminescent could be low to none but we chose to go anyways. It was a lot of fun and a lot of work, but worth it. Going in you are with a current. Coming back you go against the current so it is a lot of work but the guides help you if you get stuck. It really tests your skills as a person and a family. Haha!
July 15, 2026…Our guides were outstanding! My 10 year old was getting very anxious and scared when paddling against the current and they came and helped to calm her down and get us back safely. It was a stressful situation that they completely disarmed, like magic! The tour was worth the long drive. I 100% would recommend this experience…great guides, great tour, great adventure, and a family core memory made. Don’t hesitate, BOOK NOW!
Awesome experience no doubt about it and very fun
The tour was ok, it was a bit upsetting that they know the bay doesn’t light up and still advertise it as a “glowing tour” if we were aware, we would have booked the tour earlier to at least see the beauty of the bay and mangroves, instead we were just kayaking on a peach black bay and you see nothing.
Great tour if you have the opportunity to take it. There's place to secure your valuables while on the kayak and the tour guides are extremely knowledgeable, patient with new kayakers, and speak both English and Spanish. Will be doing this again
Misleading advertisement. Viator is not advising that the sargassum has killed the plankton that produces the bioluminescence, so it’s just a night time 2 mile kayak tour through a mangrove forest. The actual company— kayaking Puerto Rico— is transparent and advises that there is little to no glow, but viator does not communicate this to guests. Between the tour price and the transportation from old San Juan, this tour cost us nearly $400 to kayak in the dark for an hour and a half. Do yourself a favor and contact the kayak companies directly. They are good, honest and transparent. Viator is clearly not.
