Our tour guide was friendly and very knowledgeable, and we enjoyed seeing the Leaning Tower of Pisa with enough time to explore and visit the shops. However, Florence was disappointing as the time there was far too short. The coach drop-off point is about a 25-minute walk from the centre, meaning a large portion of the visit is spent walking to and from the bus. Overall, most of the day is spent travelling rather than sightseeing. Although we had a very nice lunch, it was a long day for limited enjoyment. Unfortunately, it didn’t feel like good value for money, and I wouldn’t recommend this tour.
Thank you for your review. We are, however, a little puzzled by some aspects of your comments. Our Florence & Pisa experience is operated exclusively as a private tour and does not involve coach transportation or drop-offs outside the city centre. In Florence, our guests are normally accompanied by a dedicated local guide, while a second guide assists in Pisa. For this reason, we wonder whether some details may relate to a different tour or provider. In any case, we appreciate you taking the time to leave a review.
The only way to see Florence and Pisa in one day. Both tour guides were excellent. The company had a representative walk us to the train and made sure we got on the correct one. Our train broke down on the way back to Rome. We were a hour late. The driver messaged us and still picked us up at the train station. Excellent service!
Thank you for sharing your experience! We're so glad you enjoyed your day exploring Florence and Pisa. It's fantastic to hear that our guides and representative made your journey smooth and enjoyable. We apologize for the train delay but are pleased that our driver was able to accommodate you. Your satisfaction means a lot to us, and we hope to have the pleasure of serving you again soon!
Overall, the experience was great! As we started the day, our pickup driver was a little late but was very apologetic. He still brought us to the train station very early. Our coordinator met us at the station and was gracious, providing a cell number where he could be reached at all times. He reviewed all our instructions for the day and waited with us until we boarded. Train seating was spacious and clean. We arrived in Florence and were met by Silvia. She was a great guide for the morning, had lots of interesting little known facts that she shared as we walked. She was also kind enough to deviate a bit from our official stops so that we could do a little shopping along the way. Even there she knew about the shops, which ones were family owned and quick ways to move around the city to avoid some of the crowds. She shared facts about the buildings and architecture as we passed along and stayed engaged throughout the day - even when my teens kept pausing for Instagram photo shoots. At the end of our tour, we grabbed sandwiches quickly before being transitioned to a new driver to take us to Pisa. Our driver expertly navigated traffic, bringing us literally outside the gates of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. It was fascinating that we could drive so close. Our tour guide, Monica, met us there, full of bubbly energy and local facts. She is from Pisa and knew many local stories, family histories, history of each building, how they were built, how long it took to restore them and more. She talked about the art work, paintings, sculptures and more. It was a fascinating though brief visit to this beautiful city. I highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants to get a brief overview of the highlights of Florence and Pisa. It will undoubtedly leave you wanting more. We ended the day tired but happy, already planning our next visit.
Dear Claudia, Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed and thoughtful review. We’re truly delighted to hear that your experience with us was so positive! We’re especially happy to hear how much you enjoyed your time with Silvia and Monica. Both are passionate about their cities and love sharing their knowledge, so knowing that they were able to make your day both fun and informative really means a lot to us. It’s always our goal to offer flexible, engaging, and seamless experiences, so hearing your appreciation for the coordination, local insights, and personalized touches makes all the effort worthwhile. We hope to see you and your family again next time in Italy! Regards,
We were very mixed on this tour. It was great that we were picked up at hotel and brought to train station. Never having used train in Italy a little more guidance would have been helpful. We rode in bisiness class which was great. Clear instructions to meet our guide Sylvia in Florence. She was nice, professional, full of knowledge. Howecer pacing was very slow...from the walking pace to getting the info. We would walk to a spor in silence for 5 to 10 min then we would hear aboit it...then see it. I want to hear about it on way and spend time looking. More time in Galleria would have been nice to understnad art or if the pace was faster we would have been able to sit and eat at one of the local places. We had time to grab a sandwich and go. Travel to Pisa was fine...we were taken to a nice overlook in Florence that gave a great view of the city. Once in Pisa we met our guide Alessandro...this part was a 5 out of 5. He was fantastic. Great pacing of informational we alot of local color as we moved. The sites were incredible seeing the cathedral, babtistry and climbing the tower of Pisa. After walking through the town we were given alot of local information, history as we strolled. Pisa was the highlight. Then back on the train, and car to hotel.
My wife and I were staying in Rome for 8 days, but wanted to see Florence and Pisa. This tour seemed like the best option. Since Viator uses subcontractors I was a little worried, but everything went well on their end. Logistically, this is a complicated trip and I have to admire the planning that went into it. A driver picked us up at our apartment in Rome, took us to the train station, we took the train to Florence, we were met by a tour guide who showed us around and took us through the Acadamia, then another driver took us to Pisa and another guide took us around and up to the top of the leaning tower, then a ride to the train station, train back to Rome, and then a driver took us home. This was a lot of coordination and work for the tour operator but the drivers, guides, and logistics were planned and executed flawlessly. I personally would have wanted to see more in Florence like the duomo, but it wouldn't be possible given the time table. On a personal note, my wife became ill when we arrived in Florence and was not feeling well throughout the day. The guides and drivers were very supportive, kind and helpful. It really demonstrated the quality of people working on this tour and the wonderful people of Italy. We really appreciated their kindness.
Tour guide was able to educate us about the details of the Roman Colosseum and Forum, had a deep knowledge of History. Definitely a pleasant and wonderful activity.
Scilla (Florence) and Alessandra (Pis): our guides were amazing. So anyone who values their time and will pay money for great service, you should choose this company. Everything was completely seamless through. From the first time we booked to the end of the tour has been incredible. They confirmed the night before through texting/ email. A driver came for us in Rome and took us to the train station where a guide took us from there and made sure we got on the right train to Florence. In Florence a second guide met us at the train station and gave the official tour of Florence, which was nothing short of first class with Scilla. She then handed us over to a driver who took us to Florence and her name was Alessandra. She offered to stow away our bags at her friends store so we wouldn't have to walk around with our purchases in Florence. After the Pisa Tour with Alessandra she arranged a taxi and she came with us to the train station in Pisa and made sure we got on the right train back to Rome. At Rome Termini we met out driver we had early that morning who took us back to our hotel. It was expensive but as they say she pay for for you get. I took my son to Italy alone and we wanted a seamless and first class Experience and that we got. Thank you Roma Experience Tours!
For those who value their time and will pay extra for great service this is the company you should choose. From the time of booking to the very end of the excursion we were in constant communication by texting through the Viator app. The driver who picked us up from the hotel In Rome was exceptional. He then handed us over to a greeter at the Roma Termini station. My son and I were nervous about the taking the trains and getting lost but the greeter took care of that all. He made sure we got on the right train. The guide who met us in Florence her name was Scilla. Talk about personable and knowledgeable. She was all of this and more. She offered to take photos and took them well and they were well composed. I take a lot of photos professionally for fun and I was impressed at the photos she took of us. Then she handed us off to a driver who took us safely to Pisa from Florence. We then met the second guide Alessandra. She was so attentive and kind. She showed away our bags for us so we wouldn’t have to walk around with them. She made suggestions for the best gelateria in Pisa which was great!! She was exceptionally knowledgeable about the architecture and the history behind the meaning tower. I really had a great time. She then got us to our train on time and stayed with us until we got on the train and back to Rome. Thank you so much! This has been a memorable experience. It was well worth every dime!!!
