Después de una recogida en el aeropuerto, visite uno de los monasterios más antiguos del país, Debre Libanos, y vea sus tumbas, museo y la cueva cercana donde rezó su santo fundador. Dirígete a la garganta del Nilo Azul y admira increíbles vistas mientras observas al mono Gelada endémico de Etiopía. Itinerario
Es uno de los monasterios antiguos e históricos de Etiopía, que se encuentra al noroeste de Addis Abeba. El monasterio fue fundado en el siglo XIII por San Tekle Haymanot, según la tradición; meditó en una cueva durante 29 años. El complejo del monasterio se asienta sobre una terraza entre un acantilado y el desfiladero de uno de los afluentes del río Abbay. Ninguno de los edificios originales de Debre Libanos sobrevive, aunque David Buxton sospechó que "hay cosas interesantes que todavía se encuentran entre los acantilados vecinos". Los edificios actuales incluyen la iglesia sobre la tumba de Tekle Haymanot, que el emperador Haile Selassie ordenó construir en 1961; una Iglesia de la Cruz un poco más antigua, donde se le dijo a Buxton que se conserva un fragmento de la Vera Cruz; y cinco escuelas religiosas
El puente portugués cerca de Debre Libanos fue erigido por los portugueses en el siglo XVI; en realidad fue construido a principios del siglo XIX por etíopes, aunque en el antiguo estilo portugués. El estrecho vano hace una bonita imagen y la cascada (en la estación de lluvias) justo debajo de ella es aún más impresionante
Río Jemma en una gran garganta junto a Debre Libanos y Fiche. El Jemma se une al Wenchit antes de llegar al río Abbay (Nilo Azul). El valle de Jemma y sus alrededores son bien conocidos por los tours de observación de aves. El objetivo principal para el observador de aves es la endémica Francolina de Harwood y otros posibles avistamientos son: Barbet Bandeado, Oriole del Bosque Cabeciblanco, el Estornino de Pico Blanco, el Estornino de Pico Rojo, el Charla de Acantilado de Alas Blancas, la Teta Negra Dorsiblanca, el Turaco de Mejillas Blancas y el Cuerno de Hemprich. También verás uno de los mamíferos endémicos de Etiopía, la Gelada o babuino sangrante. (En el desfiladero veremos una variedad de buitres: buitres enfrentados a Lamergeyer, Ruppell y Lappet.

This day trip from Addis Ababa was really nice. The monasteries were peaceful and full of history, and the natural views were beautiful. It was a calm and enjoyable experience.

I did this day trip from Addis Ababa and it turned out to be one of the most relaxing days of my trip. The monasteries were really beautiful and had a calm, spiritual feeling to them. found papyrus tours travels via the internet, was a bit sceptical at first but the service has been exceptional. All communication via email and WhatsApp. The tour was tailored to suit the needs of my family, we were three adults and three kids. The guides and drivers were excellent. Very patient, knowledgeable and extremely passionate about Ethiopia Special mention rodas has been extremely helpful and all communication and intineries were always sent through timeously.
