This is a what you necessarily need to see in Athens tour. Well organized knowledgeable guides. Vicky was especially fabulous. This is a real cultural experience. The tour consists of 2 separate tours divided by a lunch. Drinks are not included but the food is good. You receive a set menu a salad a Greek appetizer of 3 different bites on a plate and you can choose an entrée out of 4 dishes. Mousaka was fabulous. First you have a downtown sightseeing tour by bus then comes a detailed guided tour of the Acropolis. I have to mention again Vicky is very knowledgeable and her presentation was really enjoyable and also exciting. The tour includes the visit of the museum of the Acropolis with a detailed introduction of its artifacts. You can learn a lot. After lunch you will visit the temple of Posseidon. There was a different guide in the afternoon but also knowledgeable and gave plenty of information on the way. On this tour you can realize how rich and wealthy was ancient Athens and Greece and why it is considered as the cradle of Europe and christen culture. Do not hesitate to join this tour you will not regret it.
Our morning guide was fantastic. Enthusiastic and informative. Our afternoon guide seemed to want to disparage the first guide. She was informative but came across as condescending. We loved the sites and history and were in awe w the drivers on narrow streets.
Wonderful experience; I was traveling alone and booked this tour. The photo in this review is Hara and I. She is the service manager with the heart of an angel. I missed my bus and she personally picked me up and took me to the next stop to ensure I made the tour. She has a passion for helping people and ensuring every customer has the best experience ♥️
Melvin, It was my pleasure to meet you in person! Thank you for you kind words. Hara
We really enjoyed our tour. Going to Acropolis early in the morning was perfect. Our tour guide was very considerate with going up the hill in 30c as we stopped few times so we can learn history and rest before continuing the climb as it help elderly and not so fit people(me lol) to get to the top without any issues. I would have given 5 stars but the only issue i had is I wanted full English tour but we end up in the group with another language. I know our tour guide did her best to explain in both languages but it I felt that we always missing something. Beside this one little complain we enjoyed our time learning and exploring beautiful Athens and Cape Sounion.
Our guides were amazing! Friendly and knowledgeable but also knowing to give the group enough time to explore on their own! I have tried to figure out which part of the day was my favorite but honestly EVERYTHING came together to make the day perfect! My husband has always been very intrigued with Greek mythology and to actually see where these legends were formed first hand was unbelievable!
The Acropolis . Bot enough time on this site or the temple of Poseidon. The tour waisted time picking up people on the way. I feel that I have paid for being taking around the city for no reason. You should have a centralized location where people can wait then begin a tour. The lunch that was included came with not even a bottle of water. Three hours of this tour was a complete waist.
Dear Ernest, Thank you for your review. No any drinks and water was included in your package therefore lunch served only. The pick up service is free of charge and it is offered to all clients including you of course from Athens Gate and starting earlier than tour departure. As for Sounio tour we pick up you at 15:00 and go to Sounio on time without delays on the way as was Holly Friday and the site was closing at 17:00. Thank you Hara Kritikidou Customer Service Manager
in the morning we were picked up by one bus at our hotel (Wyndham Grand Athens) and dropped at another hotel (Hotel Amalia) in Syntagma Square to meet our Athens tour. We did a brief tour of the city by bus, stopped at the Olympic Stadium and then to the Acropolis. Since we had taken an abbreviated similar tour the day before offered by Princess Cruises, I had the opportunity to climb the Acropolis twice (85 or so steps) but my wife sat out the second opportunity. This tour included admission to the Acropolis museum. Our AM tour guide, Dimitra, was knowledgeable and actually did a better job at the Acropolis than the Princess Tour guide did the day before. The museum has many of the sculptures etc. from the Acropolis which had to be removed to preserve them, due to smog and the elements effect on them. It got a bit hectic after that, since this was actually 3 separate events pieced together, and not a single tour as the writeup suggested. Our AM tour guide walked us to the restaurant for lunch and worked it out with the head waiter and told us we needed to meet our afternoon tour up the street at Hotel Athens Gate at 3 pm. Using Google map, we figured out where that was and got to the hotel, where we picked up the afternoon Tour bus. Fortunately, they had our name on their roster. The afternoon bus drove us down the Greek Rivera with resort homes, beaches, and restaurants- a lovely ride, to Cape Sounion and the Temple of Posidon late in the afternoon. Very scenic and refreshingly different from downtown Athens. After the tour of the Temple, we were driven back into town and dropped off at our respective hotels. The experience of the tours was great, but should be clear that it is really 2 separate tours and a lunch experience, rather than a single tour for the day. Would have been less stressful to have known that when booking.
A tour guide can make or break an experience. Ours was slow, just plodding along, he repeated himself, stopped to provide narrative in high density spots for long periods of time, creating bottle necks for other groups and finally the group was too big to get any value. It was poorly organised, there was just a lot of sitting around in the bus. We were collected late from the pick up spot, only to then be driven to the office and wait in the bus for 30 minutes. Once Acropolis was completed bus was gridlocked in and couldn’t move. It was hot and water should have been provided at that point. The city “highlights” section were very underwhelming. Lunch was good but we had had enough by that point and decided to not bother with the drive to the cape The acropolis is such a marvellous site though, I enjoyed my experience once we got past the stairs and I took out my headset and stopped listening to the guides repeated monotone stories
We are thanking you for your review. Your guide was Mr Stathis Tsantekidis , one of the best guide of Greece not Athens and we are surprised that your only comment was that he was monotone... Also you mentioned that you let your whispers and you stopped listen both guides. As for the morning start , it is very clear written that the pick up service starts earlier than tour departure. We are staring the check in and 08:45 is the departure. The same happended at the airports, ports , train you have to check in to wait for the departure time. This was a wonderful tour! Everything was well planned from pick up to drop off and our guides were very knowledgeable. We would highly recommended the trip out to see the Temple of Poseidon. It was less crowded and more peaceful than the Acropolis. Plus it makes for great photos!
My son raved about this adventure so I went at a later time. It was exceptional! Great guides. I did the all day trip with the Parthenon, lunch and Cape Sounion.
