Excursión de un día al volcán Chimborazo y la iglesia de Balbanera desde Guayaquil
Descripción
Chimborazo es el volcán y montaña más alto del Ecuador, y el punto más alejado del centro de la Tierra con una altitud de 6263.47 metros sobre el nivel del mar. Se cree que su última erupción conocida ocurrió alrededor del año 550 d.C. Haremos una parada en la Iglesia de Balbanera para admirar esta increíble iglesia, luego tendremos vista panorámica del Volcán Chimborazo, el auto llegará al primer refugio y comenzaremos a caminar hacia la segunda oleada de este increíble volcán.

Itinerario
Recojo a las 4:00 AM, iniciamos el recorrido recogiendo el pax en el hotel, luego nos dirigiremos hacia la Reserva de Producción de Vida Silvestre Chimborazo en la provincia de Chimborazo,
Nuestra primera parada será en la iglesia Balbanera para admirar la iglesia la cual fue construida casi a orillas de la laguna Colta, cuenta con una plaza que sirve para concentraciones indígenas, como fondo a la población de Villa Unión y el majestuoso Chimborazo, en el lugar hay un restaurante donde cada pasajero puede desayunar (Desayuno Opcional), después de este descanso continuaremos nuestro camino hacia el Volcán Chimborazo, el vehículo llega al Refugio Hermanos Carriel el cual se encuentra a 4,850 metros sobre el nivel del mar, luego realizaremos el ascenso caminando hacia el segundo refugio Whymper el cual se encuentra a 5,000 metros sobre el nivel del mar, la caminata no es pesada pero iremos al ritmo de los pasajeros. Tendremos tiempo para la foto respectiva. Tendremos un almuerzo típico en un restaurante tradicional de la zona y luego regresaremos a Guayaquil. Fin del servicio y regreso al hotel.

The Balbanera Church was very beautiful, I loved how the little Virgin has so many gifts from the believers and how it is said to be the first church in the country, it is fascinating to see it up close and appreciate its architecture, it is not that flashy but it is captivating. I really liked the service from the girl who helped us, super friendly with the customers.
Juan Carlos, our driver and Alexandra, our tour guide were fantastic. We were looking for a challenging hike & even though it was less than 2 miles, it was tough because it was above 16,000 feet. Alexandra made it look easy. The views are amazing & although it was a long time in the car, Juan Carlos was amazing & we saw so much of rural Ecuador. The lunch was at a small, local place & the food was great. Juan Carlos stopped at a fruit stand on the way home so we could grab some fresh bananas & mangoes.
This tour was absolutely amazing! Chimborazo was kind enough to show its magic peak and alpacas were either bunching up or running around. We hiked from the first refuge (4800m) to the second one (5000m). It took us quite some time and it was challenging, but we really wanted to try ourselves. This tour is definitely worth the time and the money spent on it in my opinion.

This tour was absolutely fantastic! Chimborazo was kind enough to us to show its magnificent snowy peak. The drive of 5 hours was through beautiful Ecuadorian mountains and scenic roads. The climb from 4800m to 5000m was a bit challenging, but we wanted the challenge so we went for it. And it was absolute worth it for us! The view at the second refuge is incredible!
