Comenzaremos nuestra visita de los famosos Sassi, un laberinto de casas cueva que cubre la parte baja de esta increíble ciudad, que ha sido nombrada Capital Europea de la Cultura para 2019. Matera es una ciudad encaramada no solo sobre estos increíbles viviendas cueva, sino también sobre un barranco dramático, con vistas panorámicas sobre el paisaje. Aunque todavía hay edificios en ruinas, la ciudad está llena de vida y cultura, ya que muchas estructuras han sido restauradas en hermosos hoteles y restaurantes en cuevas. El tiempo que pase en Matera será un recorrido a pie con paradas en el Museo Casa Grotta, una cueva renovada con artefactos de época que le da al visitante una gran idea de cómo era la vida antes de que sus ciudadanos fueran reubicados fuera de Sassi en la década de 1950. También visitaremos la hermosa Chiesa di Santa Lucia y la famosa Santa Maria De Idris. Disfrutamos de un almuerzo de 3 platos en un restaurante local y visita a una bodega y degustación de vinos.

Esta es una casa cueva renovada con artefactos de la época que le da al visitante una gran idea de cómo era la vida antes de que sus ciudadanos se mudaran de Sassi en la década de 1950.
Santa Lucia alle Malve es una iglesia rupestre en Matera, un antiguo monasterio que acogió a monjas de orden benedictino entre los siglos VIII y XVI.
La iglesia de Santa Maria De Idris está ubicada en la parte superior del espolón rocoso de Montirone (o Monterrone), cerca de San Pietro Caveoso. La ubicación es hermosa y ofrece una vista única de la ciudad y la Gravina.

It was such an amazing day with Gio and Antonio. On the way to Matera we had amazing conversations about everything from local business, real estate, culture. We really enjoyed our time. Then when we arrived to Matera we were shown all the amazing sights of Matera. We ended our day wine tasting at a premier winery. It’s a must do for anyone visiting the area!

Came to Puglia region to celebrate my friend’s 50th birthday. There were 15 of us. We had an amazing few days with Green Italy tours. The drivers picked us up on time from the train station. We had few tours with them visting places such as Matera and Alberobello. But the highlight of the trip was the authentic Italian cooking class organised by Green Italy tours. They thought us the Italian cooking techniques like pasta making, eggplant parmigiana. All this while sipping on an Italian vino, listening to great music, and bonding with my friends. And they treated us with delicious Italian ice cream at the end. This experience we will never forget! If you want a memorable trip to Italy I highly recommend the Green Italy tours!
As a regular lone explorer in Italy I have found tours to vary quite significantly and therefore wanted to share my tour provided by Giovanni. Matera is stunning ❤️ None of the huge groups where you are walking forever and unable to hear the guide whilst suffering in the heat!. Touring with Gio makes you feel like a VIP, his passion and knowledge are second to none, comfortable travel in air conditioned vehicles and the opportunity to meet genuine people passionate about their country. I was part of a group of five and from start to finish our tour was one of the most enjoyable I have been on, absolutely recommend using them!
