There are no words to truly tell you how very much we enjoyed our hike with our incredible guide, Attila! Honestly, by the end, we felt like we were family! He took the time to explain all the beautiful sights to us; he led us through tough terrain but in a way that gave us confidence to do so; he was friendly, kind, thoughtful and super knowledgeable! By the end, we saw unbelievable sights, heard the sounds of birds and insects as never before, explored Hungary in a way that is not typical and fell in love with this unique and beautiful country all over again! Don’t hesitate to sign up for this hike - it’ll give you a lifetime of memories and a sense of accomplishment! Hats off to our guide, Attila! We will never forget you!!!!!
Gyorgy Kulcsar was my guide for the day. Pick up, drop off was from the hotel. The hike itself was fabulous and Gyorgy took more scenic (but challenging) route with me which I had requested, and it opened up to some amazing views. The hike did require an intermediate to advanced level of fitness . He was friendly, frequently checking on my pace, water breaks etc. The highlights were the incredible views of the Danube Bend, the views of the Monk rocks, and in the Ram gorge, packing up next to water streams. Gyorgy also on my request took a little detour and drove by Szentendre downtown so I could take a look. All in all a wonderful day spent.
Absolutely amazing day, I can’t recommend this trip enough! Gyuri was a great guide and the hike was well organised and planned taking you through beautiful countryside to the breathtaking Danube bend and then through the picturesque Ram Canyon. We were lucky enough to see the spring flowers in the forest on a beautiful clear day. Although some parts of the hike were a little strenuous they’re perfectly do-able if you have a reasonable level of fitness and a positive mindset. (I’m 56 and my husband is 61 and we were fine - although a little slower than Gyuri!) The ladders and rails in the canyon were great fun and helpful in all the right places! I thoroughly enjoyed this trip and if we’d had longer in Budapest I definitely would have done more hikes with Outdoor Adventures!
This was an absolutely amazing day, if you like hiking and the outdoors then I can’t recommend it enough! Gyuri was a great guide and the hike was well organised and planned taking you through beautiful countryside to the breathtaking Danube bend and then through the picturesque Ram Canyon. We were lucky enough to see the spring flowers in the forest on a beautiful clear day. Although some parts of the hike were a little strenuous, they’re perfectly do-able if you have a reasonable level of fitness with Gyuri expertly and safely guiding you through. (I’m 56 and my husband is 61 and both of us were able to do it in good spirits - although a lot more slowly than Gyuri!) The ladders and rails in the canyon were great fun and helped in all the right places. A very enjoyable experience. I only wish we’d had more time available to do other trips!
Went on a random trip based off a colleagues recommendation, turned out to be a wonderful peaceful experience of just quietly trudging along and connecting with nature, just 1 hour away from Budapest. Hungary isnt well known for its outdoors, so this was an unplanned last minute trip for me, i went Solo with Gyuri my guide. It was a good and slightly challenging 18-19km hike which covered 1) climbing up old volcano ridges to a lookout point 2) quiet forest trails with beautiful ravines and bright green moss-covered stones 3) Ram gorge, a natural stream gorge we got to climb our way to the top 4) quiet walks through a sleepy village Although it was unfortunately foggy at the very top lookout point, i managed breath-taking views near the top on the hill ridges. Despite 0 Celcius temps, the hike was comfortable and relaxing with only the uphill sections being the most challenging (especially the steep rocky section near the ridge tops). Very quiet hushed forests in wintertime made it a very quiet introspective hike, the kind i enjoy the most. Thank you to Gyuri for being a confident, and very encouraging guide throughout the 5.5 hours hike. Would definitely recommend for any nature lover or anyone looking for a good workout.
I did 2 activities- Day 1 was a customised e-bike with Gyuri for 52.3km, Day 2 was a 6 hour „One Day Wonder Hike“ with Attila for 18.5km. Both days were amazing!!! Loved the bike ride but loved the hike even more! If you are a hiker, you need to do this hike as it is so beautiful! Weather on both days in November were surprisingly good. Was picked up and dropped off at the hotel safely, which was really important for me as a solo female traveller. Both Gyuri and Attila were fantastic guides!
One of the best hikes I have ever done, Gyuri is an amazing guy, very knowledgeable and chatty but also gives you moments of silence to absorb the amazing views surrounding your hike. He knew when to talk and when not to, and the route we took, just got better and better, I can’t remember how many times I said WOW. Long live Hungary!
Absolutely fantastic trip! Everything worked perfectly from the start - planning, pick-up and coordination was super professional and easy. Our guide, Gyuri, was absolutely fantastic! Easy to talk to, attentive, funny and really good at guiding us through the route with tips and support along the way. 10/10 - we couldn't have asked for a better guide!!! The surroundings were incredibly beautiful, and although the trip was physically demanding, especially on the steep parts, we managed it fine with a little basic fitness - and not least Gyuri's help and motivation. An experience we will never forget - highly recommended!
This is a must-do for anyone who wants to see outside of the city, who loves the outdoors and exercise, and who wants a fun and knowledgeable personal guide. Before we met, Gyuri communicated clearly and quickly, even including elevation change of the hike and what we needed to bring (water, lunch) to ensure a smooth day. Gyuri picked us up from the front door of our hotel in Pest and drove about an hour to the base. We hiked, climbed, chatted and laughed for the next 6 hours. He ensured we took water breaks, rest stops, and proceeded safely at each obstacle. What a great way to see a different part of the country, view the Danube River from 600m+, scale an gorge with small waterfalls, appreciate the environment, and take a break from the heat and hustle of the city. My husband and I called it much needed soul food. Would return and take another tour with Gyuri.
DO THIS HIKE! Paul Henry and Joyce Appel very much recommend this hiking trip. Wonderful hike, nice views and fun to do. Somewhat challenging, but if you are a hiker and like moderate or more lengthy hikes like we do, then it will not seem hard to you. Just go with right frame of mind and it will be doable. The leader is excellent and will be of help in any way. I, Joyce, had a sore leg but was still glad and thankful to the leader that I did it.
