Desembarque con su guía turístico después de una hora de recorrido en barco a la isla de Elefanta desde la Puerta de la India y explore las magníficas cuevas. La parte exterior de las cuevas se usó como un lugar de culto hindú hasta que se estableció el dominio portugués. Las cuevas más alejadas son más pequeñas y son cuevas budistas.La cueva principal, también conocida como la cueva de Shiva, contiene numerosas tallas que representan a lo largo de los diversos aspectos de Lord Shiva, incluyendo su boda, su asesinato de Andhaka y mucho más. También habrá una escultura de los Trimurti en la cueva principal que tiene aproximadamente 6,1 m (20 pies) de altura.Otras alas de las cuevas tienen santuarios dedicados a los hijos de Shiva, Kartikeya y Ganesh.
