I was a bit hesitant after reading some previous comments, but this is really a good tour to discover My Son. Our guide, Quyền, knew his subject very well and was delightful. Plan for about 2 hours at My Son, including 45 minutes of explanations from the guide, 45 minutes of free exploration of the site, and 20-30 minutes of traditional Cham art performance (which you can skip if you want to spend more time on the site). For a non-specialist like me, it was more than enough to discover the site (especially in the summer heat). But if you wish to explore it in detail (especially the areas in worse condition), you may run out of time. Very complementary visit to the Cham sculpture museum in Da Nang. Good Vietnamese lunch. The boat ride is a bit cosmetic, but it has the merit of showing the city differently than wandering on foot in the old town.
This was not a guided tour. It was just a drive to My Son and ”guide” who wanted to take pictures of the participants.
Leg room in van is minimal so would be challenging for tall people. Overall a great tour that hit the highlights and gave enough time to explore on own.
Our guide was great, he gave us lots of information and kept us organized. Pickup was on time, lunch was good.
The tour company communicated well with me – – they sent me a message the night before telling me exactly what time the pick up from my hotel would be. The funny thing about this was that I was on the wrong bus because I went on a bus that had come early thinking it was the right one and because of the language barrier, no one knew. When KLOOK came to my hotel to pick me up. They actually called me on WhatsApp and was able to figure out MY mistake. I had a great time the tour guide was very accommodating and even though I was feeling, I was holding up the group by walking more slowly than the others. They all kept up with me. The meal was delicious and generous, and the show was a lot of fun to see. There’s a lot of walking with this tour so be careful if you’re a senior make sure that you have adequate hydration (they do provide a bottle) carrying an umbrella for the sun and a walking support stick if needed. This is not a tour for anyone in a wheelchair. I will book again through KLOOK very responsive.
The communication from this tour operator was very poor. I was contacted by someone named Kim via email at around 7:15 pm the night before the tour to confirm pickup details. Until then, I had received no information at all, which caused unnecessary stress—especially since I had booked through Agoda and no operator details were shared in advance. The next day, the tour guide who picked us up was named Kimmy. Another issue was that they do not use WhatsApp for communication, unlike most tour operators in Vietnam, which makes coordination inconvenient for international travelers. At My Son Sanctuary, we were given less than 30 minutes and were not allowed to watch the cultural dance performance. The guide seemed to be in a constant rush, and there was very little historical explanation provided. While the site itself is beautiful and definitely worth visiting, the overall experience felt rushed and poorly managed. If budget is not a concern, I would strongly recommend choosing another tour company for a better and more fulfilling experience. I also have message evidence available in case the operator claims they did not have my details.
Worth the excursion. The very friendly and knowledgeable guide who places you and gives you a lot of information. Highly recommended
From a hotel pickup in Hoi An city, Mr. Lee's tension as a guide was enjoyed from inside the moving car on the MAX. It takes about an hour by car to get to the ruins, and when you arrive you can take a cart ride from the gate and immediately watch traditional dances, from which you can tour the ruins thoroughly. The guide explained the site in an easy-to-understand manner, which deepened my knowledge of the Mỹ Sơn ruins. I had about 20 minutes free time at the ruins to explore the ruins scattered around. Then we went back to the gate, and on our way to Hoi An by car, we stopped at a restaurant for lunch, and then there was a 20-minute boat cruise in Hoi An city, and finally we were dropped off at our hotel. People staying in Da Nang also had to drive to the hotel in Da Nang in another car.
The tour guide, Hannah is very nice. She explained the history of My Son clearly and take care of all of us, 8 people during the trip. The driver, Cong is nice too. High appreciated on both of them.
Really incredibly interesting place and culture. The tour guide, Mr Lee, was one of the best tour guides I’ve ever encountered, and I live in a tourist destination. He was incredibly knowledgeable and intelligent, as well as funny and interesting. Seriously can’t recommend this tour highly enough.
