Our tour guide was Steve, a local who has lived in the Greenwich Village neighborhood for 20 years, so he was very knowledgeable about the area. He shared some great anecdotes with us about some of the singer/songwriters like Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, and Ray Charles, who played at the various locations. He also showed us the exact spot where the Freewheelin Bob Dylan record cover photo was taken, which was very cool! And the history of the Stonewall Riot and seeing the Stonewall Inn and the park were cool too. Lots of great history!
The tour was the best way to learn the incredible history of the Village and the people that populated it right from the start. Great stories and facts that i had no idea about. So well done by our incredibly knowlegable guide Angela and with great humour. So glad i did this tour.
Angela, our tour guide, was fantastic! She was knowledgeable and friendly. She engaged with the tour group while walking in between stops. She really love what she does and it shows. Thank you, Angela!
Angela was very knowledgeable about the history of Greenwich Village and a fun person to spend time with. We learned of many great places to come back to and try some great food and drinks, which was a bonus.
Highly recommend this tour. Our tour guide Steve, really gave a lot of interesting history that I don't think you'd get with other NYC tours. He was very authentic, and I learned so much on about "the real" Greenwich Village. Hoping to book Steve again for the Meat packing District tour next time!
Angela was our tour guide, and she was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable about the history of Greenwich Village. She lives in the area, and her positive attitude and love of the village is contagious. We learned a lot, laughed and had a fantastic experience with her on this tour. Highly recommend.

Steve is THE man! Incredible tour guide (felt like we were visiting a friend showing us his neighborhood), super knowledgeable and share so many interesting facts about the neighborhood over the decades. Highly recommend this tour if you like music history and culture!!
Amazing — start to finish! Angela was a stellar guide! Learned so very much and visited so many fascinating sites!!
The alternative Greenwich Village walking tour was a fun and an informative introduction to a culturally rich and dynamic part of New York. Our guide Bob was highly engaging and was able to link the many fascinating moments into the over all history of the area, from the democratic tradition of protest in Washington Square Gardens to the revolt at Stonewall.
Thank you for your lovely review! We’re so glad you enjoyed the Alternative Greenwich Village walking tour and that Bob helped bring the neighborhood’s rich history and culture to life. His engaging storytelling and ability to connect key moments really make the experience special. We appreciate you sharing your feedback!
