NORTE.B. EL BILLETE DEL TELEFÉRICO Y DEL VEHÍCULO 4X4 DEBE PAGARSE EN EL PUNTO DE ENCUENTRO, 45 € POR PERSONA EN EFECTIVO PARA AGILIZAR EL REGISTRO, GRACIAS. Una excursión inolvidable: ascenso en teleférico y autobús 4x4 hasta los 2850 metros. La ruta de senderismo comienza aquí; una parada fascinante será la que se realiza en algunos cráteres extintos, chimeneas volcánicas y fracturas de lava. Continuaremos ascendiendo hasta los cráteres de Barbagallo, a 3000 metros de altitud. Desde aquí se pueden observar los majestuosos cráteres de la cumbre. Visitarás la boca efusiva de la erupción de 2002 y desde allí descenderás por playas arenosas hasta la Montagnola, desde donde podrás contemplar el Valle del Bove, una gran depresión volcano-tectónica. Un panorama impresionante que pocos otros lugares del mundo pueden ofrecer. El paseo de regreso en teleférico le permite echar un último vistazo a este encantador paisaje lunar, tras una caminata de aproximadamente 4 horas en total.

Itinerario
Partimos de la cabaña de los Guías Alpinos del Etna Sud, continuamos en teleférico hasta los 2500 metros y luego con un vehículo todoterreno llegamos a los 2850 metros.
La primera parada será el mirador del Valle del Bove, una gran depresión volcánico-tectónica en forma de herradura ubicada en el sector este del Etna, es muy importante desde el punto de vista vulcanológico ya que varios afloramientos a lo largo de las paredes. En días buenos la vista es impresionante.
Una parada muy importante es el cráter Barbagallo a unos 3000 metros de altitud. Subiendo por los arenales, llegarás a un canal de flujo de lava que data de la erupción de 2002. Subiendo el canal, llegarás a la boca efusiva de la misma erupción. Seguiremos hacia la Torre del Filosofo (2920 metros) por las recientes coladas de lava aún calientes (21-05-2023). Después de la pausa para el almuerzo caminaremos por el borde del cráter Barbagallo admirando los cráteres de la cumbre y toda la costa este de Sicilia, desde Taormina hasta Siracusa.
Tras el paseo por el borde del cráter Barbagallo, antes de iniciar el descenso, tendríamos la oportunidad de volver a admirar los cráteres de la cumbre del Etna, Cráter Central y Cráter Sudeste, con su inevitable penacho de gas.
El regreso en teleférico se realizará a lo largo de canales de arena volcánica, admirando, en los días buenos, una vista impresionante, que se extiende desde la costa jónica hasta el interior de Sicilia.

An experience you cannot really put into words. The landscape is otherworldly and the emotions you experience under an active volcano are one of a kind. Because of the ongoing eruption and the sudden bad weather, we couldn’t complete the whole tour, but thankfully Clara, our wonderful guide, made sure we got the most of the experience. She was sweet, competent and attentive, and made you curious and passionate about the volcano just like an excellent teacher would do. Will definitely come back for another experience. Amazing experience hiking up around the crater field to the rumbling of the current eruption. Very knowledgable and friendly guide. Def need a degree of fitness and be prepared to come home with volcanic ash/sand everywhere! Would recommend, we loved it
This is a must if you visit Sicily! Even while Etna was erupting, we could still do the tour in alternate fashion. The guide kept us well informed and made us feel safe.

An absolutely amazing and unforgettable experience! Our Etna tour was truly one of the highlights of our trip to Sicily. It was a wonderful experience, especially thanks to our guide, Clara, who accompanied us, making us have fun and experience every stage up to 3000m with enthusiasm.
