This experience was much more difficult than we anticipated. My husband and I are 60 - 70 years old, and we shared a Kayak. We were with 4 other people (in their 20's and a guide.- 4 kayaks total. To begin with, because of low tide, we were expected to carry the heavy kayak about 50 yards to be able to put it in the water. After getting in the water, it was evident that the other kayakers were much faster than we were, and we felt a lot of pressure to keep up with them. We thought that we would stop along the way and learn some interesting facts about the estuary, but t was more like a race to the end where we stepped out of our kayaks to see some sleeping monkeys. After seeing the monkeys it was a race back to the beginning. Our guide was kind and patient, and stayed with us the whole way, but the other kayakers disappeared from our sight, and were long gone when we returned. My husband and I are strong, and participate in many paddle board activities. We were not stopping, or going too slow, we just couldn't keep up with the others who were moving so fast. It was more like a brutal work out than an enjoyable experience. We couldn't believe we actually paid for this.
This is a nice paddle with a great guide. We saw a croc, raccoons, various birds and lots of monkeys! We were so lucky that we had such good luck with the monkeys. We actually saw a tiny baby monkey with its mom. Just precious! We highly recommend this tour.
This was very interesting. No monkeys but some cool birds, a deer, and TWO CROCODILES! Almost two full hours of paddling so be prepared for a hot workout. And the short hike to look for monkeys? Bring bug spray!!!!!!!! But our guide Hilmar was very nice and took good care of us.
We did this trip today and had a great time. Our guide was great and made safety rule number one. We didn’t see any monkeys but did see a crocodile. All I. All would do it all over again.
