So Glad We Chose Sunrider for Espíritu Santo!

Before choosing Sunrider Tours for our Espíritu Santo Island tour from La Paz, I did a LOT of research. I read reviews, talked to people and still had a hard time figuring out which operator to choose because they all seemed great! The advice I kept hearing was that the tours visit many of the same places, so pick the boat and experience that feels right for you. We weren’t sure how rough the water might be, so we ultimately chose Sunrider because of their excellent reviews, the size and comfort of the boat, and the fact that there was a toilet onboard. We were SO glad we did. On the day of our tour, there were only four guests onboard, so we had an incredible amount of space. The boat was huge, comfortable and gave everyone plenty of room to spread out rather than feeling packed in like sardines. That made a big difference on a full-day trip. Zahir, our guide, was amazing. He explained everything in both English and Spanish, made sure everyone had snorkeling gear that fit properly, took videos of us snorkeling, and constantly pointed out things to see both above and below the water. We saw sea lions, learned how to distinguish sea lions from seals, spotted so many birds, including blue-footed boobies and frigatebirds, and even saw a group of goats standing on the rocks! Roman expertly captained the boat, even when the weather became a little choppy and we actually got some rain. For lunch they found us a beautiful protected cove and put out an incredible spread: ceviche, ham and cheese sandwiches, plenty of toppings and accompaniments, and ice-cold beer for a post-snorkel celebration. It was perfect. Nora was also fantastic, both helping us get everything booked beforehand and quickly sharing our snorkeling videos with us afterward. From beginning to end, the entire Espíritu Santo snorkeling and sea lion tour was incredibly well run, friendly and comfortable. We felt looked after without ever feeling overly managed, and Zahir and Roman made the day both fun and genuinely interesting. We’ll absolutely be back for more Sunrider tours. If you’re researching Espíritu Santo Island tours from La Paz and, like me, are having trouble deciding which company to choose, we can’t recommend Sunrider highly enough.

A remarkable, semi-private tour of Espiritu Santo UNESCO site

My wife and I have done this full day tour to the islands off La Paz every year for the past 4 years. Last year we used a different operator and returned to Sun Rider this year because we love their larger, faster 18 person boats, their guides and the company. Yesterday was no exception. Our guide Zair, and boat captain Pablo, were stellar and provided a premium experience. Since we had done this trip before they asked us for our input to prioritize the spots we would visit on the trip. They were informative and answered every question about the area, the marine life and our observations before they prepared a great lunch at the most beautiful private beach we’ve ever visited. This UNESCO World Heritage site is so special and is one of the most beautiful ocean experiences in the world. Thanks to Sun Rider, our 7 hour tour of the sea lion colonies and Espiratu Santo island, we left ready to come back again next time we visit the Cabo area. Thanks Sun Rider for making our day extra special!

Best bang for the buck Hands down Sunrider, Customer Service, and experience.

Pablo, and Zair we’re our boat, Captain and Guide. We only had two other people on our boat they asked us where we wanted to go. In terms of snorkeling, what we wanted to see and, where we wanted to have lunch. It is July, so you cannot snorkel with the Sea lions, but we wanted to go to the largest Sea colony, so they took usthere, and then took us to a secluded spot for snorkeling. Afterwards, they found a beach where we were the only people… We swim and had lunch on the boat. We could not have asked for better. Service. On the way out to the Sea Lion Colony, we made several stops for important sites and photos. We also saw several schools of dolphin that we stopped to photograph. Our Guide was super knowledgeable, and had lots of props to help us, understand what we were seeing. Because we were tired when we returned, I unfortunately think I made a mistake with the tip, and pesos that I counted out for our Guides… I would have tipped them so much more than what I I actually tipped if I had not mistaken, the pay conversion. I feel terrible about that because these two guides made my birthday trip extra special. They even gave me a couple of hostess birthday cupcakes, with candles, to celebrate. Of course I shared. This was not the first time we have been with this tour company… We’ve actually been with them about four other times we will not go out with anyone else ever again… Sun rider is the way to go They’re boats are big and hold 18 people, and they do not overcrowded them. Their staff is very helpful and communicate extremely well. MY, only regret on this trip is that I did not tip appropriately. Shame on me. We will definitely go out again next year… This trip is the one we recommend. We’ve done the others but this is our favorite. We also had to book a different company last year because Sunrider was completely booked for the time. We were here in November. We will never use the other company. Booking advance and use Sunrider.

Amazing family

We had an amazing family trip. Pablo the captain knew exactly where to go to find the dolphins and the most amazing beaches! And Zahir our guide was so patient and did such an amazing job explaining the area, the animals. Spoke both great English and Spanish. Was amazing with the little ones and helped us feel super comfortable. Asked what we wanted to do on our trip and made it happen. Would 100% recommend them! We got lucky and saw a ton of dolphins swim around our boat. We went to a beautiful exclusive beach where we got to swim around without tons of crowds. Lunch was great too. Had options for those who did not eat sea food. My family loved every bit of this experience.

Look for another tour operator to visit Espiritu Santo

We took the sea lion tour yesterday and I wanted to let you know that it was a disappointment. I chose your company among many options because of your very good reviews. I’m not sure what happened yesterday or why we were assigned a guide who was inexperienced and spoke very little English. Not only did he not explain anything about the region, as other reviews had indicated, but he also almost took us back after a long boat ride without even seeing the sea lions. He said the currents were strong and there were too many people, so after spending time in cold water without seeing any sea lions up close, he told us to return to the boat. Other tours had guests in full-body wetsuits and guides who actively helped them snorkel in the best areas, providing a much better experience. After several families complained, he agreed to take us out again, but by then most people had already removed their wetsuits and did not go back, so our kids did not get to see the sea lions at all. I don’t think it is fair to charge a high price for this tour while cutting corners by assigning an inexperienced guide and not providing proper wetsuits for cold conditions, especially for children.

Swim with sea lions & lots of colorful fish

One of the best sea excursions we've had! The boat was very comfortable and our group of 10 had plenty of room. Our guide Juan took good care of us along with our captain. Having the sea lions swim around you is an incredible experience.

Snorkeling with sea lions!

We sailed to one of the most iconic and protected marine territories of Baja California Sur on a six hour tour that included snorkeling with sea lions, visiting a frigate bird colony and 3 hours on a beautiful beach, including lunch. The cherry on top is a quick stop at Balandra Beach for photos. Espíritu Santo National Park is a landmark in any exploration of this sea. What stays with you, however, is the experience: how the sea transforms those who know how to experience it above and below the water.

Incredible, breathtaking experience - highly recommend

Breathtaking experience! The friendly staff of the Sunrider crew thought of everything - breakfast, lunch, equipment, and a once-in-a-lifetime chance to swim and interact with sea lions, who were friendly and very active during our snorkel trip. Lunch was served near a protected bay with stunning views and beautiful shells. It's a long day from San Jose del Cabo (6am-7pm) but very worth it. Great for individuals, couples, and families (went with my family of four including two children 8 and 12). Be sure you're comfortable in the water and be sure to bring a change of clothes as you will get wet on the boat ride. The boat is very comfortable with a bathroom on board, and Emilio our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area and the wildlife. Wonderful experience that I would definitely do again if I was in Cabo or La Paz.

Wonderful tour!

SunRider Tours was well-organized and easy to deal with. Our guide, Juan-Manuel was awesome and very knowledgeable. Swimming with the sea lions was an amazing experience. We travelled at the beginning of Feb, so it’s chilly in the water (even with wetsuits) and it’s a lengthy boat ride too, so do be prepared with warm/windrpoof clothing. Great food and plenty of drinks - water, pop, beer etc available.
