7 Days on Lemosho with Burigi Chato

If you're picking a route, go with Lemosho. It’s a bit longer but the scenery changes every single day. One day you're in a jungle, the next you're in a desert. The Burigi Chato crew made the camps feel like home. Hot water for washing your face in the morning felt like a total luxury. The 7-day pace is perfect for anyone who isn't a pro athlete but wants to reach the top.

Brutal but beautiful Lemosho trek

Be ready for the cold! Once you get past Barranco, it gets freezing at night. But waking up to see the clouds below you at Karanga Camp is something else. This 7-day Kilimanjaro climb was well organized from start to finish. Big thanks to the Kiliclimb guys for getting me through the final stretch to Uhuru Peak. I wouldn't have made it without them pushing me.

Solo on the 7-day Lemosho Route Kilimanjaro climb

I went into this alone and came out with five new friends. Joining a group for the 7-day Lemosho route saved me a bunch of money and kept me motivated. Day 3 at Lava Tower was a bit of a struggle with the height, but it’s the reason I didn't have a headache on summit night. Don't skip the Lemosho path—the views of the glaciers are much better than the other routes.

My 7-day Lemosho journey with Burigi Chato

The 7-day Kilimanjaro climb via Lemosho is no joke, especially the Barranco Wall. It looks like a vertical cliff from a distance, but the guides show you exactly where to step. The Shira Plateau views are unreal. If you’re worried about the thin air, the extra days on this route really help your body adjust.

unforgettable 7 days lemosho route

What an incredible journey! Standing on the Roof of Africa is something I’ll never forget, and the 7-day Lemosho route was the perfect way to do it. The scenery changed so much every single day, starting with the thick, misty rainforest at the Lemosho Gate where we spotted Colobus monkeys, and ending with the frozen, lunar landscape at the summit. Taking seven days was a smart move because it gave my body time to get used to the thin air, especially on the "climb high, sleep low" day at Lava Tower. The crew was the heart of the whole trip. Our guides were total pros, always checking our oxygen levels and keeping us steady with a constant "pole pole" pace. The food was surprisingly good for being cooked on the side of a mountain—hot soups, fresh fruit, and even pasta to keep our energy up. Climbing the Barranco Wall was a total highlight; it looks scary from the bottom, but it’s actually a fun scramble with the best views of the clouds below. Summit night was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Leaving Barafu Camp at midnight in the freezing cold was a mental battle, but reaching Stella Point just as the sun started to peak over the horizon made every struggle worth it. Walking that last stretch to Uhuru Peak with the glaciers on either side was pure magic. If you’re thinking about doing this, definitely go with the 7-day option to give yourself the best shot at reaching the top. It’s tough, dusty, and exhausting, but coming down through the Mweka forest with a summit certificate in hand is a feeling you just can’t beat.more thanks to the whole team of burigi chato safaris.

Best 7 days Kilimanjaro trek via lemosho route

I just returned from climbing Mount Kilimanjaro via the 7-day Lemosho route with Burigi Chato Safaris, and the experience was incredible. This route covers roughly 70 kilometers of diverse terrain, starting deep in the lush rainforest of the west and crossing the vast Shira Plateau before reaching the high alpine desert. Using seven days was the best decision I made because the extra time allowed my body to adjust to the altitude, making the final push to the 5,895m summit much more manageable. The scenery changed constantly, from the fun scramble up the famous Barranco Wall to the steep, rocky trails leading toward the peak. The team at Burigi Chato Safaris made the entire journey feel safe and organized. The guides were experts who knew exactly how to pace the group, constantly reminding us to go "Pole Pole" (slowly, slowly) to ensure we reached the top. The porters and chefs were the real heroes, carrying our gear and preparing fresh, hot meals—like soup and even fresh bread—at every camp. Even during the grueling 15-kilometer summit day, the crew’s singing and encouragement kept my spirits high. If you want a professional team to help you reach the Roof of Africa, I cannot recommend Burigi Chato Safaris enough. They handled every detail of the 7-day trek perfectly, and standing at Uhuru Peak at sunrise was a moment I will never forget.

7 Days on Lemosho with Burigi Chato Safaris – The perfect schedule!

I just got back from the 7-day Lemosho trek and man, what an experience. If you are worried about the altitude, this 7-day schedule is the only way to go. Burigi Chato Safaris handled the logistics so perfectly that it felt like every day was planned exactly right for our bodies to adjust. Day 1 & 2: The Start & Shira Plateau We started at Londorossi Gate and the first day was just a nice walk through the rainforest to Big Tree Camp. But Day 2 was when it got real—we climbed up onto the Shira Plateau. It’s a long day but Burigi Chato had camp set up perfectly with hot tea waiting. The views of Kibo peak from the plateau are just insane, I couldn't stop taking photos. Day 3: Lava Tower (The test!) This was a huge day. We hiked up to Lava Tower at 4,600m. I’m not gonna lie, I felt the altitude here and had a bit of a headache, but the guides were so supportive. We had lunch there and then descended to Barranco Camp. This "climb high, sleep low" schedule is pure genius—it’s why I felt so much better the next day. Day 4: The Barranco Wall I was so nervous for the Wall, but it ended up being my favorite part! It’s a bit of a scramble but the Burigi guides literally show you where to put your feet. We stayed at Karanga Camp after, and the sunset above the clouds was the best thing I've ever seen. Day 5: Heading to Base Camp A shorter hike to Barafu Camp (Base Camp). It’s very rocky and windy here, but it gave us the afternoon to just rest, eat, and try to sleep before the midnight push. The chefs from Burigi Chato somehow made a massive hot meal even in that wind—total legends. Day 6: The Summit!! The hardest night of my life. We left at midnight in the freezing cold. It’s just "pole pole" for hours in the dark. But hitting Stella Point at sunrise and then walking to Uhuru Peak... wow. I actually cried. I never could have done it without the Burigi guides literally cheering me on every step. We then descended all the way to Mweka Camp. My legs were like jelly but I felt like a hero. Day 7: The Finish Line A nice walk down through the forest to the gate. We had a big celebration with the whole Burigi Chato crew, singing and dancing. It was so emotional saying goodbye to the porters who worked so hard for us. If you want to actually enjoy your climb and reach the top, do the 7-day Lemosho. And honestly, book with Burigi Chato Safaris. Their schedule, their food, and their amazing energy made this the best trip of my life. Best 7 days ever!

7 Days Lemosho Route - Amazing Trip!

Just finished the 7 day Lemosho route with Burigi Chato Safaris and it was a top tier experience. We had a group of 10 people and the itinerary was spot on for acclimatization. The route starts in the beautiful rainforest and then opens up into the shira plateau which has some of the best views on the mountain. Doing it in 7 days was the right call because it gave us plenty of time to get used to the air before the summit push. Climbing the barranco wall was a huge highlight for our group too. The guides were very professional and the food was great every single day. If your looking to do kilimanjaro, this is the route and the company to go with. Everything was handled perfectly from start to finish. Thanks again team!

7 Days 6 Nights Lemosho Route Group Climb

I joined a group climb on Mount Kilimanjaro using the Lemosho Route (7 Days / 6 Nights) with Burigi Chato Safaris and it was really a great experience. Everything was well organized from the start, even though we were a group with different fitness levels. The guides were friendly and very supportive, always checking on us and making sure we move together. Food was good and enough for everyone, which I honestly didn’t expect on the mountain. The porters worked very hard and you can see they know what they’re doing. Summit night was tough, not easy at all, but the guides kept pushing us and most of the group made it to the top, which felt amazing. Overall, I’m very happy I chose Burigi Chato Safaris and would recommend them for anyone joining a group Kilimanjaro climb.
