We were delighted to see so many birds and reptiles. And the highlight is the kiwis. You cannot take personal photos but we did ask via their page to send some and they did! A few things I was concerned about was that the Kārearea was in a small area and these birds fly high and long distances. Maybe it’s injured , I don’t know. Be interesting to know. The preschool next door is so loud, so don’t expect a peaceful Stroll! I felt for the birds too! In saying this, I think the group are doing a great job.
must see to view the kiwi birds, very educational and beautiful walk through the park. Honey tasting is great oo!
Kia ora Amanda, Thank you for the lovely review! We really appreciate your support and thank you for sharing your experience. We're so glad you enjoyed not only the Kiwi but learning all about the different species we have here in New Zealand. We hope you enjoyed the honey tasting and was able to take some local honey home to enjoy and share with your loved ones. Warm Regards, Kiwi Park
Kiwis are amazing creatures and boy do they move fast. A chance to see them in their natural habitat was a privilege and a pleasure. But don’t miss the talk on conservation as you get to come close to some of New Zealand’s other amazing creatures.
Kia Ora Hugo, What a heartwarming review, thank you! We are so thrilled by your enthusiastic passion for Kiwi! They are such fascinating birds, and we are so pleased you treasured your experience. Providing the Kiwi with the most natural habitat and hands off experience while here with us is vital to their success in the long term, therefore we appreciate your recognition and support. We hope to welcome back again soon! Warm Regards, Kiwi Park
This was a great little park where we got to see the endangered kiwi. It was fun to learn about them as well as quite a few other birds and reptiles. The park is hidden and can be accessed on the way to the Skyline gondolas. Easy walking distance from town center. We thought it was worth the time.
Kia Ora Bruce, We’re delighted that you found the Kiwi so fascinating and recognised how special it is to be able to see them! Education is such an important part of our conservation mission therefore to hear you enjoyed learning all about New Zealand’s native species means a lot. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of your visit and rating your experience 5 stars. We really appreciate your support, our conservation efforts wouldn’t be possible without our lovely guests. Warm Regards, Kiwi Park
Came here 8 years ago and returned here recently on our last day in Queenstown to kill some time. Still a great family-run and owned business with some beautiful birds and a great Kiwi encounter. The conservation show was really informative and the kids loved it, especially with the appearance of a tuatara. So glad it still exists and is still as lovely as I remember. Hope it continues for many years to come!
Had a great time seeing the birds and tuatara! I also really enjoyed the gift shop and cafe. Great place to go for a relaxing morning. Great for anyone and very child-friendly place.
It was amzing to see Kiwi birds up close and lear more about wildlife and conservation.
Had no idea kiwis were nocturnal before arriving in New Zealand and this sanctuary was a lucky find as they take their valuable conservation work very seriously. Saw a small sign on the way up to the cable car and visited after ice creams on our return. Very impressed with all the staff and their presentations on the wildlife in their care. It was magic to see the kiwis up close (protected by a glass screen) going about their normal business. If you are happy to keep very quiet and just observe these amazing creatures are fun to watch. It was possible to go into the accommodation block again and again if you wanted to spend more time there. Lots of other interesting indigenous animals to see and an amusing presentation about those who have arrived like possums and rats which are less welcome.
Only downside is that you can’t use a camera in the kiwi house
Very good information and the kiwi so beautiful show good with the birds , loved the geckos as well .
Kia Ora Irene, We’re so pleased you enjoyed your visit to Kiwi Park! It’s lovely to hear you enjoyed not only the Kiwi but learning all about them and the various other species at Kiwi Park. The reptile wing is a new addition here at Kiwi Park, so we’re so pleased to hear such positive feedback about all our unique Gecko species! Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. Warm Regards, Kiwi Park
