A lot of Texas history and includes the history of the building when it was used as an orphanage.
Beautiful place but be sure to put the sticker on your shirt ir security will call if they don’t see it
Wonderful museum with a variable display of artifacts in history. We particularly enjoyed the artwork displays and also the basement where they talked about the history of the Bryan museum when it was an orphanage. The staff there was very friendly and informative. The grounds were impeccable while we were not able to see the observatory because it was being used for a private event it looked beautiful. While we did not have small children with us. there is a special room just for children that looked really inviting.
If you are interested in Texas history and culture this is a must see. The museum is in a beautifully restored orphanage that is more like a mansion. Extremely impressed with collection of Texas artifacts, maps, weapons and art. Excellent history of Galveston, the 1900 hurricane and the orphanage. Highly recommend.
The video about the hurricane of 1900 is worth the extra $5. Exhibits allow visitors to get close to the documents, art and historical items and the staff is extremely helpful. Guided tours are available. Convenient parking.
Great experience my family loved it. All the history was awesome. I will tell everyone about museum thank u for great service
The Bryan Museum was a welcome stop. We found it looking for things to do in Galveston and enjoyed it immensely. Small but packed with memorabilia about the West with an emphasis on Texas. One man’s collection of interesting and important things he has been acquiring since he was ten.

The Bryan Museum is in the old Galveston Protestant and Jewish Orphanage. The grounds and the building are beautiful! It’s a fairly small museum with Texas historic artifacts and artwork. It has several short videos on the museum, the 1900 Hurricane and the orphanage. We attended the museum with our Sons’ family including our 12 and 7 year old Grandsons. The museum is a great addition to Galveston’s historical sites!
This museum had such a diverse selection of artifacts and exhibits that pertained to Texas history and Texas culture and it was presented in a smooth flow if you followed the brochures recommendations for each room. So much interactive information to choose from. And even an audio recording for each room to explain what each room was use for when the building was an orphanage. The art collection was beautifully displayed.. We have been to many day trips to Galveston and I am so glad we found this jewel.
